Hot Conditions For Bowlers

Here's the latest from the Bowlie.
Thursday Bowls
Despite the warm conditions, 22 bowlers attended resulting in four games of pairs and on game of triples. In the triples match Rob Irving, Bob Freeman and Warren Bevan had a comfortable 26 to 15 win over Greg Huggins, Bruce Deland and Graham Dixon.
In the first pairs match Wally Grant and Geoff Freeman led throughout to defeat John Taylor and Keith MacRae 24 to 14. John Ward and Colin Hayward led Vic McGlashan (visitor Forster) and Graham Barby 13 to 3 after 8 ends but Vic and Graham won the next 6 ends to lead 15 to 13 and continued on to win 21 to 19
Jim Blake and Colin Mudie scored 6 shots on the first end against John Watson and Ron Hornery. Jim and Colin showed no mercy for their opponents scoring a resounding victory 35 to 10. In the final pairs game Greg Howlett and Garry McFee continued their good form and had a convincing 24 to 13 victory against Dave Johnson and Steve Turner.

Saturday Bowls
Due to the extreme heat only 6 keen bowlers turned up to play. In a triples game Jim Blake, John Taylor and Greg Howlett defeated Greg Huggins, John Carr and Colin Mudie 20 to 12.

Coming Events
Round 1 of the club major fours is to be played on or before 11th February. Nominations for this event close on 14th January.
Zone Fours will be played in sections at Dubbo Railway, Grenfell, Bathurst City and Dunedoo on the 3rd and 4th February. Nominations close on 21st January.
Our club’s Australia Day Mini-Carnival will be held on Friday 26th January. Teams of four can be all male, all female or mixed. Entries close 24th January.
Twilight bowls commence on 18th January for our 22 teams. New teams are most welcome to enter the new competition.
