The great weather brought out the bowlers and on two greens there were seven social games played. Outstanding game was a very narrow 17-16 win for Kevin Hynds and Gordon Dickson against Terry Hetherington and Alan Tolhurst. Also in a fine match Ray Jones and Ron Fisher finished fast to upset Dave Button and John Hodge 18-16. In the remaining games most of the scores were big margins with the best being a huge 30-9 win to Bruce Orr and Tony Byrne against Chris Millwood and Greg Davies. Geoff freeman and Bernie Coleman won 23-14 over Graham Barby and Bruce Deland (welcome Bruce). Also welcome to Warren Bevan as he teamed with John Keogh to def Colin Mudie and Greig Ball 27-12. Saturday Bowls.
The second semi- final of the major singles was played and Josh Mills is through to the final after a hard fought 31-23 win over a game John Corcoran. Josh took the lead mid way through and played some great bowls to hold off a very determined Corky over the closing stages, he will now play Baldy Frame in the final. In other Championship matches Paul Henry continues to impress after holding of a very fast finishing Peter McPhee 31-29. Paul had some anxious moments stuck on 30 with Peter Coming home like a train, but he was able to grab a one and live to fight another day.

Paul and Ben Townsend won their minor pairs clash with Mike Parkes and Bernie Mitchell 25- 16, the scores were locked on 13all after twelve ends but the Townsend boys put the foot down and pulled away over closing stages for an impressive victory.
In social bowls Andrew Trotman and Colin Woods won 21-18 against Col Mudie and Gordon Dickson. John Davies and Tom Hamilton def Colin Hayward and Greig Ball 23-17; Arthur Corbett and John Hodge won 19-14 over Graham Barby and Noel Nicholson and Terry Hetherington and Ron Murray def Mike Valentine and Rhona Went 20-17.
Bruce Orr and Jim Jennings won 23-12 over John Ward and Dave Johnson, while Kevin Hynds and John Keogh out gunned Mark Dwyer and Max Tomkins 27-12. Ken Walsh and John Edwards def Ted Wright and June Burgess 29-20, and Geoff Freeman and Alan Afflick won 23-19 against Ray Jones and Joe Crowley.

This Week
This week there are championship matches set down, Baldy Frame will take on Josh Mills for the major singles title, and a great match is expected. In major pairs Baldy Frame and Paul Henry will play Andrew Trotman and Mick Went the winner to play to play Noel Nicholson and Robert Corbett in the semi.

This weekend at Dubbo several of our bowlers who won district titles will be trying to win zone titles in their respected divisions. District fours Champions Arthur Corbett, Robert Corbett, John Ward and Noel Nicholson will try for the second year in a row to go to the state play offs. Promising youngster Ben Townsend will play in the Presidents singles and after his great form in winning the dist title he will be a definite chance to go on to the play offs. Also in president’s pairs we will be represented by Tom Casey and Greig Ball, both players are in great form at present and are quietly confident of a good showing.

Sunday Bowls.
Not a great day for bowls but there were eight hardy souls that turned out for social bowls. Keith Hutchison and Callan Job had an exciting 12all draw with Mick Holland and B. Archer and Steve Turner and Elaine Miller won a thriller 10-9 against Dave Johnson and Elaine Burgess. The jackpot moves on to $240 after failing to be won.

Fours through to state finals.
After all the hullabaloo of the protests and appeals in the Zone 4 pennant finals it now appears that our No4 side will be declared Zone winners and they will now go on to contest the State finals later in the year.
