G'Day and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
TWILIGHT BOWLS.
20 teams fronted for their weekly Thursday night game of bowls, the winners on the night being THROW TOGETHER and the runners up being THE GOLDEN GIRLS. There were some very tight games on the night with ELLE inflicting the first loss of the competition on CASEY SURVEYING and it was no fluke, they won 14/6. While BMB and RTA had a very exciting 11/11 draw, some other top games on the night. BUSHIES beat CRACKERJACKS 14/12, HIGHROLLERS beat ROK FM 16/13, and FLETCHER FORD/KIA 15 beat the BATTLERS 12. This competition is coming to a close and it will be a real battle to see who reigns supreme.
SUNDAY JACKPOT BOWLS
12 players fronted for a chance to win the jackpot. The winners on the morning being Guy Ellery, Tom Cole and Warwick Bright. The jackpot was not won, so goes up to $640 this Sunday.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
20 players fronted on Thursday for a game of bowls, the winners on the day being Allan Affleck and Norm Keane, the runners up Steve Clegg and Col Mudie. A couple of close games on the day saw Wally Grant and Gary McPhee fight out a hard fought draw with Tom Cole and Wally Austin 13/13, with Wally and Gary winning on ends.Joe Roodenris and Greig Ball had a close win over Mick Valentine and Dave Buggie 24/20 and John Keogh and Steve Turner lost to S Clegg and Col Mudie 17/15.
Saturday afternoon saw 56 bowlers on the greens. The winners on the day were a fours team of Mick Craft, Kath Hutchinson, John Dunn and Pat Cooney. The runners up were Tom Cole and Gary McPhee. The quarter finals of the Mixed Fours were also played on the day with the following results. Tom and Julie Hamilton, Joan Simpson and Tony Bright just got up in the last end to beat Maureen and John O'Malley, Elaine Miller and Steve Turner 28/26.Rhona Went, Robert Corbett, Gwenda Carty and Col Hayward had a hard fought win over Elaine Burgess, Tony Byrne, Liz Byrne and John Corcoran 24/19.Margaret Hawkens, Graham Barby, Mavis Gray and Col Mudie just got up over Elle Hetherington, Terry Hetherington, Merilyn Rogers and George Boatswaine 24/23 and in the last game Mick Craft, Kath Hutchinson, John Dunn and Pat Cooney had a good win over Karen Casey, Joe Davies, Brenda Davies and Tom Casey 29/22.
MIXED FOURS. The Semi Finals of the Mixed Fours were played Sunday Morning with the following results. Mick Craft, Kath Hutchinson, John Dunn and Pat Cooney beat Margaret Hawken, Graham Barby, Mavis Gray and Col Mudie 21/13 and Rhona Went, Robert Corbett, Gwenda Carty and Col Hayward Beat Julie Hamilton, Tom Hamilton, Joan Simpson and Tony Bright 28/16.So after lunch in 38 degree heat, the final took place with the team of Rhona Went, Robert Corbett, Gwenda Carty and Col Hayward having a good win over Mick Craft, Kath Hutchinson, John Dunn and Pat Cooney 29/12. Congratulations to the winners and also the runners up.
MIXED PAIRS. The Quarter Finals of the Mixed Pairs were played last Wednesday night, with the following results. Kath Hutchinson and Mick Craft had a good win over Brenda and Joe Davies 28/12. Elle Hetherington and Col Hayward also had a goodwin over Joan Simpson and Tony Bright 27/11. Chris Dunn and Pat Cooney had a big win over Karen and Tom Casey 26/8. While Margaret Hawken and Graham Barby had a close win over Liz Byrne and Terry Hetherington 19/13.
The Semi finals of the Mixed Pairs will be held tonight, good luck to the teams involved.
GENERAL NEWS. A reminder to all the participants in the Race Tipping. The party will be held Sunday 9th December Lunch Time.Please put your name on the list on the board if you are coming and what meal you would like. We would like the numbers by Thursday 6th for catering purposes. Remember, No Name = No meal.
