Hayward and Ball win Tournament

Thursday Bowls.
A healthy field of 28 players took to the greens and the game that took the eye was a very narrow 16-15 win to Wally Austin and John Ward over Tom Hamilton and K. Hinds.
Also in a close one Chris Millwood and Dave Sheehan just held off Bruce Orr and Tom Cole 21-20. A three on the last end enabled Garry McPhee and Steve Turner to defeat Ray Jones and Alan Tolhurst 18-15. Terry Hetherington and Graham Dixon combined well to score a 20-17 win over Keith MacRae and Greg Davies. John Dunn and John Carr were convincing 22-12 winners against John Corcoran and John Edwards, as was Noel Nicholson and John Keogh against Ted Wright and Wally Grant; they led all the way for a 28- 11 result. John Hodge and J. Spinks won 24-13 against Ron Hornery and Colin Hornery.

Mid Week Business House Bowls.
The stand out match of last week was, Westpac coming from behind to defeat ROK – FM 14-13. Other games of note were a narrow 13-11 win for Poets Corner against Services No2 and Pot Luck winning 14-10 against Bushies. The games on Thursday evening were generally high scoring affairs with the only really close one being a thrilling 19-18 win to Squashed Ambitions over Back Trundle Road. Next best was a six shot 15-9 win for C. L. Chicks over ELLE and an 18-11 victory to Village People against Casey’s No1.

Saturday Bowls.
Colin Hayward and Greig Ball have won the inaugural Casey’s surveying and Design two bowls pair’s tournament played over the weekend. After 12 matches Colin and Greig were winners with nine and a half wins, running second on a count back were Ricky Frame and Tom Casey seven and a half wins just pipping Keith MacRae and Dave Johnson into 3rd money. There was three social games played and standout rink was a thrilling 20all draw as Colin Hornery and Kate Keogh rattled home to force the tie with J. Spinks and J, Gregory. Ryan McLuckie and John Keogh were always in charge against Geoff Freeman and John Edwards winning 23-13. In triples Mike Valentine, John Dunn and Alan Afflick pulled away over the final stages to beat Garry McPhee, Paul Townsend and Bernie Mitchell 20-14.

Sunday bowls.
Four pair’s games were played on Sunday morning and things were back to normal with the jackpot failing to go off, it is now up to $240. A close 15-13 win to John Dunn and Ellie Hetherington against Ryan McLuckie and Julie Hamilton was the highlight of the morning. Steve Ryan and Mick Gilliver won 21-8 over Charlie Hampton and M. Gilliver; Peter tenCate and Mick Holland def Rose Mitchell and Callan Job 18-8.
Craig Cusack and Elaine Burgess won 14-8 against Garry McPhee and June Burgess.

Pennants
The following players have been selected to represent the club in the No6 pennant side for the first round of pennants, this game will be against Peak Hill at their club on Sunday 3rd April. Terry Hetherington, Mick Craft, Craig Henry and Peter McPhee: Ken Walsh, Noel Nicholson, Mike Valentine and Greg Townsend: Bruce Orr, Paul Townsend, Ryan McLuckie and Chris Dunn. This side also features some new faces and looks capable of giving a good account of themselves over the coming season.

The No7 side has a well balanced mix of new and experienced players and will be very competitive again this year. Their first match is a home game against Condobolin on Sunday 3rd April and a win would be a great start in a tough division. The team is Wilber Harris, Dave Johnson. Tony Byrne, and John Edwards: Wally Austin, Steve Turner, Dave Sheehan and Bernie Mitchell: Mike Parkes, Greg Fisher Wally Grant, and Ron Murray.

While on the pennants, the No.4 side has had a change of draw and will not play on the first weekend as published last week. They will now play a double header as per the new draw on Saturday and Sunday the 9th and 10th April, players to check the board for details.
