G'Day, and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
PENNANTS. Three pennant grades played on the weekend, with mixed results. The No 5's had its home double header against Peak Hill, and had a 6/0 and 5/1 win, this will ensure that the fives go to Dubbo for the Zone playoffs, whick will be held on the weekend of 16/17 June, in the morning game Parkes played like men possessed, winning 6/0, with a massive aggregate of 106/36. In the afternoon Peak Hill started off like last week, and we thought we would get done again, but the boys picked up and went on to a big win, well done everyone.
The 7's played Condo at home, but unfortunatly went down 5/1, this win puts Condo in front in the round robin at the moment, but there are still two games to go, so we are still hoping for the best.
The 6's went to Condo, and had a close win 3.5 to 2.5, In an extremely close match, Terry Hetherington's team picked up a six on the last end to win his rink, but more importingly, squared the aggregate 58/58, this unusual situation ment that the score for the aggregate was shared, 1.5 to 1.5, resulting in the unusual score line.
The 6's are also very much in line to progress to the Zone playoff's in Dubbo also on 16/17 June.
SOCIAL BOWLS. Thursday saw 24 bowlers on the greens, with the winners being Keith MacRae and Gary McPhee, runners up John Corcoran and Greg Davies.
One close game on the day saw Keith MacRae and Gary McPhee beat Mick Craft and Col Mudie 16/15.
Saturday afternoon 34 bowlers took to the greens, with the winners being Ron Murray and Jim Buckley, runners up were the triples team of John Edwards, Mike Parkes and Wally Austin. One close game was between Tom Hamilton and Tom Casey against Max Tomkins and Dave Buggie.the two Toms getting up 21/19.
SUNDAY MORNING JACKPOT GAME.
Ten bowlers played for the new jackpot of $540, which did not go off, the winners on the morning were Alan Affleck, Callam Job and Bernie Mitchell, hopefully, when the pennant season is over, more bowlers will take part in the Jackpot game.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS.
Quite a few games were played over the weekend, the results are as follows,
Major Pairs Semi Final, Graham Barby and Joe Davies had a big come from behind win over The McPhee Brothers, Peter and Eddie, at one stage the McPhee's led 15/3, then the wheels fell off.
MINOR SINGLES. Gary McPhee beat Greig Ball in a very close game 31/28, Terry Hetherington had a comfortable win over Mick Craft 31/16, and Dave Johnson won on a forfeit, due to an unfortunate dates mixup.
MAJOR SINGLES. Brett Frame had a big win over Wilbur Harris 31/6, Col Hayward had a hard fought win over Robert Corbett, 31/22, and Dave Worthington had a good win over Tony Bright, 31/18.
