G'Day and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
TWILIGHT BOWLS.
The presentation night for this Comp was last Thursday and CASEY SURVEYING lasted long enough to win the event, with the fast finishing ELLE the runner up. Congratulations to both teams and also the other 18 teams who took part in the Competition.The next Competition will commence on 17th January with practice and grading's and the Comp. proper will commence on 24th Jan.
Anyone who would like to enter a team, please contact the Club or come on Thursday night 17th Jan. All you need is 3 players, (plus a couple of reserves). This is a great fun night for the family, work mates or neighbours. So please get your teams in as soon as possible.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday saw 16 bowlers on the green, with the prizes being cakes and hams drawn by the machine.
Saturday saw 48 bowlers on the greens in the Annual West verse East clash.The East team getting up in convincing fashion 7 rinks to 4, plus a lot of shots. Us Westies will have to practice for next years event.
SUNDAY JACKPOT BOWLS.
16 Bowlers fronted for Jackpot Bowls on Sunday Morning, the jackpot was not won, so now stands at $760 this Sunday.
GENERAL NEWS.
The Club Presentations were held after bowls on Saturday.The big winners were Col Hayward with the Major Singles, Major Fours, and the Bowler of the year award.
Dave (Major) Johnson the Minor Singles award and Tom Cole, with the High Achiever of the year award. Well done and congratulations to all of you and to all the others who received awards on the day.
Bowlers are reminded that the Club Uniform is now back on for Saturday Bowls, our 3 month trial of Mufti dress is now over.
The race tipping party was held last Sunday, with the prize money been handed out to the good tipsters and thanks to Tooheys a lot of prizes to the not so good pickers. The big winner on the day was Paul Henry.Well done Chook.
This being my last report for the year, I would like to thank my Committee plus all the Volunteers for all their time and effort to keep bowls running over the year, their help is very much appreciated by everyone. Anyone who would like to help would be most welcome, many hands make like work.
To Roel and Denis at the Champion Post thanks for all your help and advice over the year, it made my job much easier.To everyone I would like to wish each and everyone of you all the best for Christmas and the New Year. May Santa find you with a sack full of goodies and to everyone traveling take care.
