G'Day, and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday saw 24 bowlers take to the greens on a cold, windy day for a game of bowls, the winners on the day being Greig Ball and John Hodge, and the runners up being Norm Keane and Gary McPhee.
A couple of results from the day saw Greig Ball and John Hodge beat Mick Valentine and John Ward 24/19, and Martin Tighe and Rob Tinker beat Wally Grant and John Carr 23/20.
Saturday afternoon saw 34 players on the greens, with the winners being Greig Ball and Col Mudie and the runners up being Ron Hornery and Col Hayward. The starters had a great result with two draws on the day, Ted Wright and John Ward drew with Max Tomkins and Steve Ryan 16/16, with Ted and John winning on ends 11/10, you can't get any closer than that. In the other draw Noel Nicholson and Rob Corbett battled it out with Ron Hornery and Col Hayward 23/23, with Ron and Col also winning on ends, and believe it or not also 11/10.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS.
There was one Semi Final of the Minor Fours also played on Saturday, with team Cusack, comprising John Hodge(sub), Craig Henry, Paul Henry and Craig Cusack getting up in the last end, to beat Wally Grant Mick Craft Wally Austin and John O'Malley 18/17. An interesting sideline to this game saw two Chooks getting up over two Wallys, also Super Sub John Hodge playing in his third game as a Sub(two different teams),some players have only played one game, good on you Hodgie.
SUNDAY JACKPOT BOWLS.
12 players took part in the Sunday Morning Jackpot Pairs, the Jackpot was not won, so $1000 next week.
GENERAL NEWS.
Both the Major and Minor Triples and Fours, are now at the Final Stages, please check the board to make sure you know when you have to play. Once these events are over, we will be getting into the Handicap events, so check the board for nomination details.
This Saturday will see the Final of the Major Triples where Craig Cusack, Mick Went and Rob Corbett will take on Paul Henry, Garry Went and Brett Frame. This game should be a real cracker and will be an even money bet, and whoever is on their game on the day will win.
The Mixed Mufty Pairs are now going to be played on the 1st and 3rd Sunday afternoons of the Month, with all the Pennants out of the way most of the Sundays are now free for social games.
