Welcome to this week's news from the Bowlie, I hope everyone had a great Easter, and the Easter Bilby found you all.Not a great lot of news this week,but there were some important Championship games played, more on these later.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday afternoon saw 22 bowlers take to the greens, with the winners being Greig Ball and Pat Cooney (as marker), runners up Wally Austin and Col Hayward,a couple of results on the day, Bruce Deland and John Hodge had a very close win over Tom Cole and Phil Collins 19/18, and P Helies,(visitor) and W Bevan had a good win over Bill Skinner and Eddie McPhee 22/17.
No social bowls on Saturday, as we had our Easter Mini Carnival, ten teams of four took to the greens on a beautiful day to play singles, pairs, triples and fours, the winners on the day were the team of Byrne/Went, Tony Liz Gary and Rhona with 5 wins +34, runners up Tony Bright team 4+20, third Dave Buggie 3.5+10, and fourth Col Hayward 3+15.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES.
MAJOR PAIRS saw Ray Jones(sub) and Eddie McPhee beat Gary Went and John Carr 18/13
MAJOR SINGLES Brett Frame had a good win over Noel Nicholson 31/17, this was a lot closer than the scores suggest, at one stage the the scores were locked at 13/13, but Baldy then pulled away for a good win in the other game Robert Corbett beat Ken Walsh 31/18.
MINOR SINGLES.
Greg Fisher had a good win over Jonno Austin 31/21, Greig Ball also a good win over Joe Crowley 31/20, and Steve Turner also a good win over Craig Henry 31/19.
PENNANTS.
This Sunday sees the Pennent season open with a bang, four grades will be played on Sunday, the two's ,fives and sevens will all be at home, and the sixes will travel to Forbes, So I urge everyone to come to the Club on Sunday Afternoon for a great days entertainment, and barrack on our teams in their quest for a Pennant.
GENERAL NEWS.
Round two of the Major Singles must be played on or before 14th April, while the Minor Singles must be played by 21st April.
Nominations for the Major and Minor Triples are now open, closing on 6th May, with the first round to be completed on or before 26th May, so please get in and play your games as soon as possible, especially those bowlers who will nominate for both triples,
The Singles and Pairs are now at the pointy end of the Comp. and are running well ahead of schedule, amazing stuff, keep it up.
Well, as I said, a quite Easter in Bowles, but back to earth this weekend, see you all at the Bowlie.
