Action a Plenty over last week

Thursday Bowls.
The triples match produced the closest finish of the day with John Davies, Chris Millwood and Tom Cole just holding off the very fast finishing Josh Mills, Col Hornery and Alan Tolhurst 18-17. Colin Mudie and Tony Byrne staged a big finish to overcome John Hodge and Greg Davies 25-19. Ray Jones and Wally Grant won a hard fought battle With Eddie Mc Phee and Bob Freeman 27-16. Colin Hayward and Bob Riseborough appeared to go into cruise control against Noel Nicholson and Steve Ryan but still held on for a handy 27-22 victory. In a very tight contest John Carr and John Ward defeated Geoff Freeman and Dave Sheehan 22-18. Biggest win went to Terry Hetherington and Wally Austin 33-19 over Phil Collins and John Edwards.
Mufti social will be run this week by Mick Craft and Tony Byrne.

Mid Week Business House Bowls.
There were some fine matches last Wednesday but nne better than a thrilling 11all draw between Poets Corner and Pot Luck, a five on the last end to Poets Corner making it a great finish. Other close results were, ROK FM just getting up 15-12 over R.T.A Drivers, Trundle Ex Services four shots winners against Bushies 12-8. Marees Costumes continue to impress with a 19-15 win against The Gate. Thursday’s action also produced some great match ups with a 14all draw between Thrown Together and Casey’s No1 the game of the night. Western Wool rattled home to defeat Re- Vamped 13-12 in a tight contest, and Three Amigos held off the persistent Back Trundle Road 14-11. In another match of note Wreck – em and Fix – em produced a grand stand finish to come from behind to win 15-11 against Village People.

Saturday Bowls.
A big afternoon on the greens as fifty players turned out to play in four major fours matches and four games of social bowls. I major action John Davies, Graham Barby, Col Mudie and Ted Wright won a hard fought battle 20-18 against Arthur and Robert Corbett, John Ward and Noel Nicholson. In another tough encounter Rob Tinker, Geoff Freeman, Tom Casey and Ryan McLuckie just held off a determined challenge from Andrew Trotman, Craig Cusack, Mick Went and Tom Hamilton 23-20. Big and impressive winners were Baldy, Matt, Rickey Frame and Paul Henry against Colin Hayward, John Carr, John Hodge and Bob Freeman 37-15. A three on the last end allowed Dane Bland, Eddie McPhee, Peter McPhee and Josh Mills to come from behind and just edge out John Corcoran, Garry Went, Max Tomkins and John Keogh 24-23. In social games Ken Walsh and John Edwards won a close one 23-12 against Ray Jones and Colin Woods. Keith Mac Rae and Bill Skinner won 20-16 against Bruce Orr and Tony Byrne and John Dunn and Greg Townsend defeated Mike Parkes and Wally Grant 28-17.
In triples Ron Fisher, Steve Turner and Bernie Mitchell won 18 – 12 over Steve Ryan, Wally Austin and Dave Sheehan. There will be social games this week plus major fours matches and Running the show will be Tom Hamilton and Steve Ryan.

Club News.
No winner in the members badge draws last week it will be $1200 this Friday.
Sunday bowls. A good field for social bowls and two major fours quarterfinals made up a busy Sunday. In major fours Rob Tinker, Tom Casey, Geoff Freeman and Ryan McLuckie are through to the semis after a very impressive 38-8 win over Wally Austin, Garry McPhee, Dave Johnson and Craig Henry. Also making it through were Baldy Frame, Matt Frame, Paul Henry and Rick Frame, they held on for a tight 26-23 win against Jim Buckley, Bob Riseborourgh, Chris Dunn and Wally Grant. In social bowls there were twenty starters playing five games of pairs, best match was a narrow 13-12 win to Steve Turner and Elaine Miller over Don Littlewood and Rose Mitchell. In other games Elaine Burgess and Keith MacRae won 18-19 against Keith Hutchison and Ellie Hetherington, Charlie Hampton and Warwick Johnstone def John Dunn and Mick Gilliver 17-9. Julie Hamilton and Noel Johnstone won 16-12 against Dave Johnson and Callan Job, and Lorraine Heald and Tom Cole def Mick Craft and June Burgess 15-11.

Coming Up.
This Saturday is the semi – finals of the major fours and both games look to be mouth watering match ups. John Davies, Graham Barby. Col Mudie and Ted Wright will play Rob Tinker, Tom Casey, Geoff Freeman and Ryan McLuckie in one. In the other Baldy Frame, Matt Frame, Paul Henry and Rick Frame will take on Dane Bland, Eddie McPhee, Peter McPhee and Josh Mills. Both matches appear very even and picking winners is very hard indeed.
