G'Day, and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
CLASSIC PAIRS TOURNAMENT.
30 teams took part in the tournament, in beautiful Autumn weather, with about half the teams from surrounding clubs, it made for a very tough time on the field, after five games, we had a winner, the Father and Son Combo of John and Adam Morrissey from Narromine, in a nail biting finish over The local team of Mark Dwyer and Col Hayward. The Morrisseys had five wins +46, the Hayward side five wins +45, and coming third a Forbes side of D Gray and B Williams five wins +35.
A great two days with everything going to plan. Well done to everyone involved, Players and Organisers
PENNANTS.
The three pennant sides had games last Sunday, the 6's played Railway away, but came home with a 5/1 win, but Forbes upset the apple cart with a 6/0 win over Condobolin, which gives them a nearly unbeatable lead coming into the last game, where we have to go to Forbes to play them.
The 7's also played Railway at home ,and had a 4/2 result, but unfortunately Peak Hill forfeited to Condobolin, which gave Condo a 6/0 win, they now lead us by one point, and we have to go to Condo on Sunday, for the last game of the round, so the winner of this game will win the right to go to Dubbo for the Zone playoff. This should be a terriffic game, and if we are on song we can go forward, best of luck to the boys.
The 5's had a practice day at Forbes, first we played the Grenfell 3's, and managed to win two rinks against a very strong side, and in the afternoon we played the Cowra 5's, again we won two rinks, but we would have lost the aggregate on both games, one side having a very heavy defeat in both games, maybe the selectors have to look at tweeking the side to make it stronger.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
No bowls on Thursday due to the Pairs Carnival, but Saturday saw 30 bowlers on the green on a magnificient Autumn day, how long can this weather last?
The winners on the day were Wes Westcott and Craig Cusack, runners up Bernie Mitchell and John Hodge.
GENERAL NEWS.
The draw for the Major and Minor Triples is on the board, so get stuck into them whilst the weather is good, the First round of the Majors is to be played by 2nd June, the Minors by 26th May.
The Nominations for the Major and Minor Fours are now open, no closing date as yet, but get your teams in now.
I believe the final of the Major Singles between Col Hayward and Baldy Frame will be played this Saturday, this should be a mighty game, with the winner a toss of the coin.I'm not sure when the final of the Minor singles will be played, Between Dave Johnson and Peter McPhee, quite possible, this Saturday as well, so come on down to see some mighty bowls.
Finally, which pretty young bar chick was seen shopping at Coles 7pm Wednesday night, IN HER PYJAMAS (Blue, with purple and greens owls) very fetching, and the Owls were pretty too. What was so urgent that you could'nt change your clothes?
Well, thats it for this week, see you all at the Bowlie, where the good bowlers are.
