G'Day, and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
PENNANTS.
Two grades of pennants played on the weekend, the mighty sevens went west to Condo in a do or die battle, and came home with a 5/1 win, this was a great result, as Condo was running second in the grade seven Pennants, this win puts us in the mix now, as Forbes beat Railway, who were leading the grade, this was the half way game, next week the sevens have the bye, then a couple of home games, so we are looking good.
The Sixes started their campaign with an away game at Forbes, but met a red hot Forbes team, and went down 6/0, but there is still many games to go, and they will come out firing this Sunday.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES.
Six games played over the weekend, in a Major singles match, Robert Corbett got up over Graham Barby 31/29, in this match Graham led for nine tenths of the game, but Robert finished the better for a very close win, In two Minor Singles games Greg Townsend was far too strong for Steve Turner, winning 31/14, this was a game, that on paper was very even, but Greg fired on the day for a good win, in the other Minor Singles game Dave Worthington got up from his sick bed to play Tom Casey, but the effort was too much, and Dave had to give in after 10 ends, this was a very game effort on Daves behalf to try not forfeit. In the Match of the day Steve Ryan and Wilbur Harris played a blinder, Wilbur got away to a good start, Steve caught up, then went ahead, Wilbur then caught up and went ahead, again Steve surged ahead, but got stuck on the dreaded 30, and stayed there for six ends, while Wilbur fought back and went on to score the magic point for a 31/30 win, this was a mighty game and congratulations to both players for playing the game in such a friendly manner, also Congratulations to all the other players.

GENERAL NEWS.
On Saturday afternoon, after social bowls, the official opening of the new Tifdwarf green was held, some 40 members took the opportunity to have a rollup on the new grass, despite it being heavy, it ran very true, and will be a tremendous asset for the club, a special thanks to John O'Malley and Max Tomkins, who started the ball rolling with a fund raising from all the members, then Robert Tinker, with his bank of merry volunteers, over many occasions to prepare the green for the change of grass, this took countless hours of work, over many months, and now we have a green that we can be proud of, a great big thanks to EVERYONE involved.
All members are invited to a special meeting this Saturday Morning at 10am, to hear a report on the changes being brought about by Bowls N.S.W. despite what a couple of members are saying, this will have a big impact on the game, especially Pennants, also boundary changes are going ahead, so please come and have your say, the new Constitution will be on display, and this will be our only chance to have an imput, although a lot of it is nonegiotable. We can put forward some ideas for discussion. Remember, if you do not attend the meeting, don't whinge later.
All the Championship games are charging ahead, look at the board for dates of the next rounds, and remember you can play at any time.
Well thats it for this week, see you all at the Bowlie.
