Parkes Bowling and Sports Club notes.
By Johnny Perella.
Thursday bowls.

Nine games of social pairs and one handicap match were played last Thursday.
The handicap pair’s match was a real nail biter as Keith MacRae and Alan Afflick just held off the fast finishing John Corcoran and Jim Jennings 22-21.
Four games stood out in social bowls with the best being a last end 22-21 win for John Carr and Ron Hornery over Geoff Freeman and Bruce Deland.
Also with a come from behind win were Colin Mudie and Greig Ball, they picked up a three on the last end to edge out Arthur Corbett and Graham Dixon 20-19.
Keith MacRae and Tony Byrne were doing their best work at the finish but just failed to overhaul Steve Ryan and Gordon Dickson the score 21-19 for Steve and Gordon.
D. Buggie and Greg Davies pulled away at the finish to outpoint John Ward and Tom Cole 21-18.
In the other games all were fairly easy wins with the biggest being a 31-12 romp for Kevin Hynds and Don Littlewood against Chris Millwood and Trevor Rowney.
Social mufti this week will be in the safe hands of Bruce Orr and John Hodge.
Saturday Bowls.
A busy program for Saturday bowls with one major pair’s semi plus 2nd round handicap pairs and some social bowls.
In the major Triple’s semi Rob Tinker, Kevin Hynds and Ryan McLuckie scored a handsome 24-15 win against John Davies, Mark Dwyer and Ray Jones.
They broke away in the middle stages and were never headed in an impressive display that will now see them play Keith McRae’s side in the final.
Another tie was the major highlight of a round of handicap pair’s matches that mainly produced easy wins and large winning margins.
Graham Barby and Wally Grant picked up eight shots over the last three ends to force a 26all draw with Greg Fisher and Theo Holman, Graham and Wally winning the ends 11 to 10.
In other matches Eddie and Peter McPhee won 32-17 against John Ward and Noel Nicholson, and Terry Hetherington and Wally Austin def Mick Holland and Max Tomkins 26-18.
Terry and Wally doubled up on the day and came up trumps again winning 30-22 over George Boatswain and Ron Murray.
Guy Bennett and Steve Turner showed good form with a convincing 32-12 win against Ron Hornery and Bill Skinner.
Also playing twice were George Boatswain and Ron Murray this time winning a tough encounter against Gordon Dickson and Mike Valentine 25-18.
In the social games Ted Wright, Tony Bright and Colin woods won 25-18 against Craig Cusack, Sheldon Orr and Alan Afflick and Peter Russell and Joe Crowley were too good for Geoff Freeman and Greig Ball 26-17.
More handicap pairs matches and social bowls again this week with Craig Cusack and Tom Hamilton in charge of proceedings.
Sunday Bowls.
No social bowls played but there was one handicap pair’s match and the final semi of the minor triples was decided.
Dave Worthington, Guy Bennett and Mick Craft are into the final of the minor triples following a hard fought 22-18 win over the highly fancied Craig Cusack, Kevin Hynds and Tom Hamilton.

Social bowls will on again this week and its well worth coming along to enjoy some great company and good bowls with a chance to win part of the $560 jackpot on offer.
The club footy tipping contest is over for the year and taking 1st spot and the money was Trevor Miles, he will receive his cheque at the annual Footy tipping party on 24th September at 6pm.
Coming Events.
•The finals of the minor and major triples are set down to be played this Sunday; both matches look to be close affairs and should be well worth watching.
In the minors Tom Casey, Tony Byrne and Greig Ball will play Dave Worthington, Guy Bennett and Mick Craft, tough to pick a winner but Casey and Ball have had big years but will need to be on their game to hold off the giant killers.
In the major final both teams have won through against more fancied opponents setting up a mouth watering contest.
Rob Tinker, Kevin Hynds and Ryan McLuckie would be slight favourites against Keith MacRae, Terry Hetherington and Dave Johnson, but you would be a brave man to bet against Keith and his boys.
Good Bowling.
