CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Two club championship major singles matches were played this last week.
Wally Grant played John Carr on Saturday. John started well and aided by two maximum four shot ends held an early 15-5 lead. Four ends later John still held a lead of 17-9. Wally then won the next eight ends to lead 25-17. John won the next three ends to reduce the lead to 25-22. Wally continued to play good bowls and won the last four ends to secure a 31-22 win.
Graham Fliedner played Keith MacRae on Sunday. Keith had the better start and held an early 10-4 lead. Graham then won 10 of the next 13 ends to grab a handy 24-15 lead. Keith won five of the next seven ends to reduce the lead to 26-22. Graham then finished the stronger to take out the match 31-24.
THURSDAY JACKPOT BOWLS
24 bowlers played six games of pairs.
Ian Mill and Graham Dickson had a hard fought 21-19 win over Bob Freeman and Gordon Dickson.
After leading 13-5 Graham Barby and John Hodge went on to have a 24-17 victory over John Keogh and Gary McPhee.
Ted Wright and John Corcoran played Keith MacRae and Col Mudie. Ted and John started well and held a 13-4 lead after nine ends. Keith and Col then won eight of the next nine ends to grab a narrow 17-16 lead. Ted and John scored six shots in winning the next two ends and held on to win 22-18.
Ray Jones and Clive Stibbard played Rob Irving and Ron Hornery. Ray and Clive held a narrow 6-5 lead after seven ends. Rob and Ron then started to dominate and won 10 of the last 14 ends to run out 20-16 winners.
After trailing 13-16, Col Woods and Col Hayward won the last four ends to record a come from behind 19-16 win over John Watson and Baldy Frame.
Allan Wright and Steve Ryan led all the way in their 25-12 win over Don Littlewood and Mike Valentine.
The major prize winners were Ted Wright and John Corcoran and the minor winners were Allan Wright and Steve Ryan. The jackpot of $200 was won by the lucky rink of Allan Wright, Steve Ryan, Don Littlewood and Mike Valentine.
SATURDAY SOCIAL BOWLS
18 bowlers played three games of pairs and one triples.
The triples game saw Col Woods, Bernie Mitchell and Mike Valentine hold an early 13-1 lead and then go on to defeat Allan Wright, Ted Wright and Joe Crowley 23-11.
John Dunn and Warren Bevan played Noel Nicholson and Tom Casey. This was a very close game with the score 12 all after 16 ends. Noel and Tom won the next three ends to lead 18-12 and held on to win 18-16.
Ray Jones and Baldy Frame led all the way in their 27-10 win over Maree Grant and Tom Furey.
Robyn Morgan and Gary McPhee played Nimo Mills and Geoff Freeman. Nimo and Geoff had the better start and led 12-5 after 11 ends. Robyn and Gary fought back to narrow the lead to 14-12 after 16 ends. Nimo and Geoff held firm and won four of the last five ends to record a 21-13 win.
The major prize winners were Nimo Mills and Geoff Freeman and the minor winners were Noel Nicholson and Tom Casey.
SUNDAY MORNING JACKPOT
10 bowlers braved the elements and played one games of pairs and one triples.
After trailing 4-6, Mick Blunt and Tom Furey took control of their game against Stuart Kelly and Joan Simpson and ran out 18-8 winners.
In the triples game Bob Freeman, Arthur Powter and Geoff Freeman had a narrow 11-8 win over Ian Brown, George Bradley and Mal Porter.
Prize winners were Mick Blunt, Joan Simpson, Geoff Freeman and Arthur Powter.
The jackpot of $500 was not won. Come along on Sunday morning for a game of bowls, a sausage sandwich, and a chance of winning the jackpot. Names in by 9:30am for a 10:00am start.
PENNANTS
Pennants resume this Sunday and in district pennants Grades 6 and 7 play Parkes Railway Diggers at Parkes Railway Diggers. Grade 6 need to win by approximately 25 shots while Grade 7 need a win or have a draw to claim the district pennant.
In Zone pennants Grade 1 play Dubbo Railway at Parkes Bowling & Sports and Grade 4 play West Dubbo at Parkes Bowling & Sports.

Meeting
The Annual meeting of the Central Western District Umpires will be held on Tuesday, May 12 at Parkes Bowling & Sports Club commencing at 7:30pm.
