Gordon and Col won the next three ends before Wally and George came back to claim the next four ends and grab a narrow 22-21 lead with one end to play. In a very tense last end it came down to Col’s last bowl which was a beauty with Gordon and Col scoring two shots to win the match 23-22.
Wally and George lined up again in the afternoon against John Hodge (sub) and John Ward and received a three shot start. Wally and George dominated the first half of the match and held a 19-9 lead after 12 ends. The two John’s came back strongly and won seven of the next eight ends to grab a 23-20 lead with one end to play. Wally and George scored two shots on the last end to go down narrowly 23-22. The last match saw Bob and Geoff Freeman receive an eight shot start from the defending champions Wilbur Harris and John Corcoran. Bob and Geoff had a dream start and led 19-0 after five ends and still had a good 24-11 lead after 16 ends. Wilbur and John scored six shots on the 17th end and Bob and Geoff’s lead was looking a little shaky. The next end saw Bob play three excellent bowls which resulted in he and Geoff scoring five shots and again hold a double digit lead. The last three ends were hard fought with Bob and Geoff holding on to win 31-21.
