Here is the latest news from the Bowlie.
TWILIGHT BOWLS
60 bowlers participated on Thursday night.
Results of some of the matches saw Rok-FM defeat Crackerjacks 10-9, Back Trundle Rd defeat We Wreck Em-We Fix Em 16-13, Young Guns defeat Golden Girls 13-7, Spadgers defeat Elle 16-12, No Names defeat Bowling Stones 14-12 and Bowl Bros won the last three ends in defeating High Rollers 15-14.
The major prize winning team was Spadgers with No Names winning the minor prize. Super Bees won the lucky losers prize.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Six matches were played over the last week.
Minor Singles results:
Greg Townsend played John Hodge. John held a handy 22-15 lead before Greg won nine of the last ten ends to win the match 31-23.
Tom Furey played Steve Mills. Tom led 20-11, however Steve finished the stronger to win 31-25. Tom showed plenty of fight considering it was his first outing in the Club Championships. Peter McPhee had a good 31-15 win over Gary McPhee.
Mike Valentine had a narrow 31-27 win over Terry Hetherington.
In a Major Singles match Kevin Hynds played Wilbur Harris. At one stage Kevin held a 23-8 lead, and then 29-19. Wilbur scored 12 shots over the next five ends to record a very close 31-30 victory.
In a Major Pairs match Bruce Orr and Steve Ryan only lost four ends in recording a big 28-6 win over Alan Affleck and Joe Crowley.
The first round of the Major Pairs must be played by this Saturday, 15th February.
SUNDAY MORNING JACKPOT
14 bowlers turned out and played two games of Pairs and one Triples.
Matt Parker and Mick Blunt had a good 18-11 win over Alan Affleck and Rob Irving.
Craig Henry and Tom Furey were too strong for Steve Turner and Dave Johnson, winning 20-12. In the Triples game Chris Dunn, Bob Freeman and Steve Mills scored four shots on the last end to defeat Bill Wyatt, Shannon Birmingham and Martin Tighe 17-15.
Voucher winners were Chris Dunn, Dave Johnson, Steve Mills, Alan Affleck and Bill Wyatt.
The jackpot was not won and now stands at $860. Come along on Sunday morning for a game of bowls, a sausage sandwich, and a chance to win the jackpot. Names in by 9:30am for a 10:00am start.
SOCIAL
On Thursday 20 bowlers played two games of Pairs and two Triples.
Nev Whitfield, Greig Ball and Col Hayward scored a hard fought 19-15 win over Allan Wright, John Keogh and John Davies.
Bob Freeman, Wally Austin and Col Mudie led all the way in defeating Bill Skinner, Rob Irving and Warren Bevan 25-13.
John Hodge and Warwick Parker scored a good 25-17 win over John Ward and John Carr.
Gordon Dickson and Arthur Corbett were too strong for Mick Craft and Keith MacRae, winning 27-17.
Major winners were Bruce Orr and Steve Ryan and the minor winners were John Hodge and Warwick Parker.
With a large number of bowlers participating in the District Pairs on Saturday only 10 bowlers played one game of Pairs and one Triples.
In the Triples game Bob Freeman, Tom Furey and Steve Mills had a close 20-17 win over Alan Affleck, Joe Crowley and Colin Woods.
In the Pairs game Bill Skinner and John Carr defeated Gordon Dickson and Steve Ryan 21-16.
Major winners were the Minor Singles match winner, Greg Townsend and Pat Cooney (marker).
