Here’s the latest from the Bowlie.
Social Bowls.
Thursday, September 22.
Twelve players contested Three games of Pairs.
In the closest game of the day John Hodge and Rob Irving lead for most of the game to score a 22-16 win over Keith MacRae and Chris Dunn.
In the other matches Col Mudie and Bob Freeman were too good for John Ward and Greg Huggins and Graham Dixon and Les Kent had a convincing win against Gladrin Sun and Jim Blake.
Saturday, September 24.
Twenty players turned out to play five games of Pairs.
Unfortunately the score cards for these games have gone missing so I have tried to reconstruct the results from memory and talking to other players but I apologise if any of the following information is incorrect.
In a fairly close match John Carr and Jim Blake lead for the first eighteen ends before Wally Grant and George Bradley scored three shots on the nineteenth end to take the lead 20 -19. The next end went to John and Jim and going in to the last end the score was level 20 all. Wally and George had the best of the last end to claim the victory, 25 -20.
If I have been able to correctly reconstruct the results, other matches went to:
Maureen Bailey and Rob Irving against Dave Johnson and George Boatswain.
John Corcoran and John Watson over Steve “Nimo” Mills and Les Kent.
Col Mudie and Bob Freeman against Keith MacRae and Gordon Dickson.
Mike Valentine and Rhona Went against Ray Jones and Ron Hornery.
Prizes were won by Wally Grant and George Bradley.

Parkes Bowling and Sports Club Annual General Meeting.
The Annual General Meeting of the Club was held on Sunday, September 25 and all Board positions were filled without the need for any ballots.
Mick Blunt was returned as Chairperson and the Vice Chairpersons are Liz Byrne and Maureen Stone.
Discussions are being held with another Sporting Group and Parkes Shire Council and we can expect a change in the usage of one of the three greens sometime in the future.
I’m sure all members wish the new Board well in their efforts to grow our club and make it sustainable in to the future.
