G'Day, and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
TWILIGHT BOWLS.
Thursday night saw 20 teams take part in the Twilight Bowls Comp, the winners on the night being Casey Surveying & the runners up Golden Girls. A couple of results on the night saw ROK FM Beat Uniting Church 13/8 and in a close game Wewreckem & Wefixem beat Battlers 14/12. This competition is now past the half way mark, with several teams in the running for the top spot, although at this stage Casey Surveying is a clear favourite.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday afternoon saw 18 bowlers on the green, with the winners being the triples team of Mick Valentine, John Dunn and John Corcoran & the runners up being Ron Fisher and Col Hayward.
Saturday afternoon saw 26 bowlers on the greens, the winners being Alan Affleck, Col Woods and Arthur Corbett. The runners up being Merv Hennock and Dave Johnson. A couple of results on the day saw Rhona Went and Liz Byrne beat Elle Hetherington and Maureen Boatswain 18/13 and Merv Hennock and Dave Johnson in a cliff hanger over Tony Byrne and Steve Turner 15/14.The scores were level pegging at the 20th end, with Merv and Dave scoring the winning point on the last bowl of the game.
SUNDAY JACKPOT BOWLS.
Only a small field, due to the Mini Carnival, the jackpot did not go off, so $560 this Sunday.
MINI CARNIVAL.
The Dave Littlewood and Neville Trainor sponsored Mini Carnival saw 8 teams of fours on the green for a days bowls. Comprising Singles and Triples, two games of Pairs and finally all the teams came together for a game of Fours.
The winners on the day was the Col Mudie side with four wins +35 and in a rare event, second place was a tie.The Liz Byrne team and the Graham Barby team, with three wins minus 5 and to show how strange bowls can be the Fourth place went to the Steve Turner team with Two1/2 wins +42. The draw certainly cost Steve big time.
A big thanks to both David Littlewood Smash Repairs and Neville Trainor Parkes Auto Wreckers for sponsoring the event and at the presentation they said they will be back next year. Thanks fellas.
GENERAL NEWS.
Both the Mixed Fours and the Handicap Singles nominations have now closed.So check the board for the draw over the next few days.
The big Christmas raffle is now open. A Wheelbarrow full of goodies to the tune of $1000 is the big prize, so come to the Club and get your tickets. Only $2 a pop or if you attend the Friday Night Sweepstakes and spend $10, you get a free ticket.Iit will be drawn Mid December.
The Renovated Tifdwarf Green is starting to take shape, now with a tint of green showing through. With some hot weather, it will really take off.
Again thanks to all the Volunteers who have given their time on the working bee's, your efforts are there for everyone to see.
