The triples match was also very close after Keith MacRae, John Dunn and George Bradley lead John Corcoran, Col Woods and Bob Freeman, 10-1 after five ends. By the end of the eighteenth end the lead had been cut to four shots, 20-16 and, although John’s team won the last two ends, Keith’s side just hung on to wins by one shot, 20-19.

Saturday, March 18.
The twenty players who turned out to play five games of Pairs were lucky that the threatening rain held off and it turned out to be a great day for bowls.
In the closest match of the day, Col Hayward and Steve Ryan got away to a good start against John Davies and Tom Furey and had a seven shot lead after seven ends. After fifteen ends Col and Steve still held the lead, 14-8 but John and Ton won the next three ends to lead 16-14 with three ends to play. Not to be outdone, Col and Steve won those ends scoring four shots to win the match 18-16.
In another fairly close match, Geoff Freeman and John Hodge built an early lead and after nine ends lead John Ward and Rob Irving 12-3. Playing some great bowls John and Rob won eight of the last twelve ends but couldn’t quite bridge the gap and Geoff and John claimed victory, 23-19.
