Well, here we are with another weeks news from the Bowlie, with good weather, the greens have had a pounding, with nearly continious games, as everyone is making an effort to get their games over, so here we go.
BUSINESS HOUSE.
Wednesday night winners were 1st The Gate ,2nd ROK.FM., and Thursday saw Just Us greet the Judge, followed by Elle, tonight is the Penultimate week for this popular night game, so we hope everyone will be here to make a big week of bowls.
SUNDAY MORNING BOWLS.
12 bowlere took part last Sunday, hoping for the Jackpot of $1000, but it did not go off, so this Sunday $1000 is up for grabs, the margin is now a very low 7, so someone will be very lucky in a very short time. The winners for the day saw Chris Dunn Mick Horan and Steve Turner take home the vouchers.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday saw 28 bowlers take part in a great days game, the winnere being Alan Affleck and Ted Wright, followed by Merv Hennock and Keven Wales, welcome to the Club Kevin, hope to see you more often,
Saturday saw 46 bowlers on the Greens, the winners for the day were Arthur Corbert and Craig Cusack, followed by Joe Davies and Graham Barby, these four bowlers were paired up, so they could get some practice for their first Pennant game on last Sunday, against Dubbo City, and it worked, more later.
Some scores from the day, Steve Turner and Tony Bright had a good win over Alan Affleck and Kevin Hynds 22/17, and Mimo Mills ands Wally Austin had a close game beating Brian Collins and Dave Worthington 19/17. Welcome back home Brian, and a very big welcome to Dave, back playing after his big operation, I see you hav'nt lost your skills.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES.
In a game of Minor singles Dave Johnson hade a good win over Ron Murray 31/16, and in some Major singles games Wilbur Harris had a big win over Eddie McPhee 31/21,John Corcoran had a close win over Mick Craft 31/25, Ray Jones beat Craig Henry 31/21, after Craig took off like a scalded cat, and had a big lead, and looked like having a major boil over, but the experience of Ray came to the fore, and he slowly took control, and went on for a comfortable win. John Carr was no match for a fired up Col Mudie going down 31/7, and finally Tony Bright had a good win over Terry Hetherington 31/22.
In the Minor and Major Pairs played over the weekend, saw some very good games, the results are as follows,
Minor Pairs, Greig Ball and Tom Casey beat Ryan McLuckie and Terry Hetherington 22/13, Mick Craft and Greg Fisher beat Gary McPhee and Kevin Hynds 20/10, and Ron Murray and George Boatswain continued on their winning way, with a very good win over Bruce Deland and John O'Malley 18/13.
And Finally the Major Pairs saw Graham Barby and Joe Davies beat Bruce Deland and Warren Bevan 31/12, Paul Henry and Baldy Frame put the sword to Greig Ball and Tom Casey 24/14, and finally the Silver Fox (Gary Went) came out of semi retirement, to team up with John Carr to beat Geoff Freeman anf John O'Malley 20/17.
PENNANTS.
The Pennant season has started for the No2 side, where they went to Dubbo to take on the City side and they came away with a great win, 5 points to 1. I don't know the actual scores, but both Baldy Frame and Robert Corbett won, Joe Davies lost, I believe they won by 7 points overall, well done boys.
On the 1st April the No5 team will have a trial match against Forbes No5, while the Parkes No6 side will take on the No7 side.
GENERAL NEWS.
The club will be sponsoring a Mini Carnival on Easter Saturday, teams of 4, Men, Women or Mixed, please enter your team in the Blue book at the Bar.
Thats it for this week, good bowling to you all.
