G'Day and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
TWILIGHT BOWLS.
All teams are reminded that the Comp starts this Thursday. It is a free night, so the teams can register and meet with other players for a fun night. Any new team is most welcome, please be at the Club by 6pm to register. The Competition will commence in ernest next Thursday night.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
28 bowlers braved the heat on Thursday afternoon for a round of bowls.The winners on the day were John Keogh and John Carr, the runners up were A Jensen (a visitor from Qld) and Graham Barby.
A couple of results from the games saw Mick Valentine and Col Mudie beat Tom Hamilton and John Corcoran 22/19. John Keogh and John Carr beat Alan Affleck and Ray Jones 26/23 and the game of the day saw J. Jensen and Graham Barby play an 18/18 draw with Steve Ryan and Robert Corbett.
Sanity prevailed on Saturday. No social bowls, due to the extreme heat.
SUNDAY JACKPOT BOWLS.
14 players fronted for the mornings games. In much milder weather and it finally happened, the jackpot went off. 4 players shared the $880, so the new jackpot will commence at $100 this Sunday.
DISTRICT TRIPLES.
The District Triples were played over the weekend in extreme heat. Four teams were left Sunday Morning for the Semi Finals.Two teams from Parkes and two teams from Forbes.Both Parkes teams were to good for the Forbes Bowlers.So this left the Final for Sunday aftrernoon between the teams of Paul Henry,Robert Corbett & Baldy Frame playing Noel Nicholson,John Ward & Keith MacRae.It was a very tough encounter in the heat with Baldy Frame's Team too strong in the finish winning 26 to 13.
GENERAL NEWS.
What a gigantic four days over the Elvis Festival. The club was rocking and rolling with four concerts over the four nights, plus the District Triples.Everyone had a great time with the club decorated, the Staff in their Hawaiian Shirts and Lai's. It was a great atmosphere, we only have to wait 12 months for it happen all again.
By the time you read this column, the draw for the Major and Minor Singles and Pairs will be on the board, please check it out and remember you can play your games ANY DAY up to the nominated date, so get in early and don't wait for the last day.
