Rep Players fail at Zone Titles.

John Davies and Graham Barby were narrowly beaten in the semi-final of the Zone 4 Champion of Champion Club Pairs played at West Dubbo over the weekend.
Playing in very windy conditions they were behind 17-9 with seven ends to play but came home strongly and just went down 21-20 to a side from Baradine.
Dave Johnson and Craig also travelled to Dubbo to contest the zone Rookie pair’s championships; unfortunately they lost both of their games but would have gained valuable experience from the weekend.
Thursday bowls.
Not a huge field but there were twenty four players turning out to play in six games of pairs taking advantage of the lovely autumn weather.
Stand out game was a narrow 20-18 win to the very fast finishing Garry McPhee and Gordon Dickson over Bob Risebourgh and Alan Hockey (good to see you back Alan)
Next best game was a very convincing win for Ray Jones and Paul Henry as they completely outclassed John Davies and Graham Barby 26-19.
Also showing fine form were Rob Tinker and John Hodge as they proved just too strong for Colin Mudie and Mike Valentine 24-13.
George Boatswain and Bill Skinner were a good combination as they over whelmed Noel Nicholson and Bill Wyatt 28-19.
Merv Hennock was the star as he and John Ward put the cleaner through John Corcoran and Greig Ball 24-13.
In the final game Colin Hayward and Tony Byrne were always in front in their 25-13 win against Geoff Freeman and Mike Parkes.
Ron Murray and Terry Hetherington will be in charge of this week’s social mufti.
Club News.
Not a lot of news on the club front, the Friday nights are going along nicely and the members badge draw is climbing back and has reached $1300.
It’s a great night out and as well as some fine raffles you can enjoy the culinary delights of our restaurant specialising in Indian and Australian meals.
Saturday Bowls.
Windy conditions made play in social bowls pretty tough and all players struggled to play consistent bowls.
There were still some great clashes and taking centre stage were John Carr and Alan Afflick as they rattled home to take their game against Ray Jones and Bill Skinner 19-17.
A great final end proved the icing on the cake for Craig Cusack and John Hodge; they picked up a four to edge out Keith MacRae and John Keogh 23-20.
Tom Casey and Max Tomkins were in fine touch as they pulled away over the final stages to win 25-16 against Mark Dwyer and Ryan McLuckie.
Geoff Freeman and Mike Valentine were in a mean mood in their game against Tony Bright and Greig Ball running out convincing 31-7 winners.
Terry Hetherington and the inform Merv Hennock were just too good for Gordon Dickson and Bernie Mitchell leading all the way for a 25-13 victory.
Sunday Bowls.
Two games of pairs and one of triples were played on Sunday morning and the best was a real heavyweight encounter featuring Col Hayward and Kevin Hynds up against Baldy Frame and Craig Cusack.
Colin and Kevin just winning a close struggle 15-13.
Craig Henry and Chris Dunn won in fine style 24-13 against Dave Johnson and Greg Fisher and in the triples Mike Holland, G. Mitchell and Elaine Miller def Bernie Mitchell, Callam Job and June Burgess 19-5.
The jackpot was not won and now moves to $440 for next week.
We were saddened to hear of the passing of district secretary Lloyd Hetherington, he was a popular figure among bowls circles and will be sadly missed by one and all.
Coming Events.
• This Saturday the last semi- final of the minor singles will be played between Tom Casey and Josh Mills, with the winner backing up on Sunday to play Paul Henry in the final should be a couple of great games.
