Here's the latest from the Bowlie.
Social Bowls
The wet weather this week restricted action on the greens to Social Bowls on Thursday, June 2.
Twenty-two bowlers turned out to play four games of Pairs and one of Triples.
The team of Geoff Freeman and Graeme Phillips (a visitor) took the first two ends to lead 6 – 0 but, after nine ends, Dave Buggie and Gordon Dickson had fought back to lead 12 – 10. They maintained the lead until Geoff and Graeme scored three shots on the sixteenth end to lead 18 -16. Play was fairly even over the last five ends and Geoff and Graeme held on to win 21 -20.
In another close match the visiting team of Greg Howlett and Keith Hoggett had a narrow win over Keith MacRae and Graham Dixon.
The other matches were won by John Hodge and Wally Grant, B. Franksens (a visitor) and Bruce Deland and the Triples match went to Col Mudie, Rob Irving and Bob Freeman.
Prize winners on the day were the Triples team of Col Mudie, Rob Irving and Bob Freeman and the Runner’s Up Prize went to Greg Howlett and Keith Hoggett.
