Good Numbers For Super Saturday

Here is the latest news from the Bowlie.
SUPER SATURDAY SOCIAL BOWLS
30 bowlers turned out to play in the Bill Skinner and Col Woods sponsored Super Saturday. They played six games of pairs and one game of triples. It was very pleasing to see three lady members participate.
In the triples game Stuart Kelly, Guy Ellery and Graham Fliedner played Cliff Westcott, Ted Wright and Pat Cooney. This was a very close game with Stuart, Guy and Graham holding a narrow 18-17 lead after 19 ends. They then picked up five shots on the last two ends to run out 23-17 winners.
Ray Jones and Geoff Freeman played Wally Austin and John Carr. This was a very low scoring game with Ray and Geoff leading 8-5 after 11 ends. Wally and John won the next six ends to take a 14-8 lead. Ray and Geoff won three of the last four ends however Wally and John were able to hang on to win 15-14.
Tom Furey and Gary McPhee won six of the last seven ends to record a come from behind 22-18 win over Ron Murray and Steve Mills.
Col Woods and Rhona Went played Ian Mill and John Dunn. Col and Rhona led 13-5 after 12 ends and held that advantage to run out 23-14 winners.
Robyn Morgan and John O’Malley played Bill Skinner and John Ward. Robyn and John held a 15-14 lead after 19 ends and then won the last two ends to win 19-14.
Ron Hornery and Arthur Corbett only lost seven ends in their 28-16 win over Alan Affleck and Warren Bevan.
Bob Riseborough and Mike Valentine played Gordon Dickson and Chris Dunn. Bob and Mike held a narrow 18-15 lead after 16 ends. They then won the remaining ends to run out 28-15 winners.
The major winners were Wally Austin and John Carr with the minor winners being Tom Furey and Gary McPhee.

THURSDAY SOCIAL BOWLS
26 bowlers played five games of pairs and one game of triples.
In the triples game Don Littlewood, Gordon Dickson and Col Mudie only lost seven ends in their big 29-11 win over Bob Freeman, Alan Affleck and Geoff Freeman.
Ron Hornery and Mike Valentine played Max Tomkins and John Dunn. Ron and Mike led 20-8 after 13 ends. Max and John won six of the last eight ends however Ron and Mike hung on to win 22-20.
Peter Creith and John Corcoran only lost six ends in defeating Brendon Middendorf and Brett Frame 27-10.
Noel Nicholson and Chris Dunn played John Taylor and Greig Ball. Noel and Chris held a narrow 9-7 lead after 10 ends. John and Greig then won 10 of the last 11 ends to record a 22-12 win.
Bill Skinner and Pat Cooney played Col Hornery and Steve Turner. Bill and Pat led 16-8 after 10 ends and held that advantage to run out 26-19 winners. Bill was given the man of the match award.
Ted Wright and John Ward played John Hodge and Kevin Hynds. Ted and John got away to a 11-0 lead and extended the lead to 19-7 after 17 ends. John and Kevin won the last four ends to narrow the final score to 19-15.
The major winners were Peter Creith and John Corcoran and the minor winners were Don Littlewood, Gordon Dickson and Col Mudie..
SUNDAY MORNING JACKPOT
12 bowlers played three games of pairs.
Graham Phillips and Guy Ellery scored four shots on the last end to snatch a 15 all draw with Keith Hutchison and Chris Dunn. Keith and Chris won the ends 8-6.
After leading 16-1, Alan Affleck and Brian Harrison went on to defeat Bob Freeman and Mick Blunt 22-9.
Steve Mills and John Dunn led all the way in their 19-8 win over Craig Henry and Greg Townsend.
Prize winners were Keith Hutchison, Brian Harrison, Craig Henry, Graham Phillips and Chris Dunn.
The jackpot was not won and is $500 next week. Come along on Sunday morning for a game of bowls, a sausage sandwich, and a chance to win the jackpot. Names in by 9:30am for a 10:00am start.
HANDICAP PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIP
This weekend will see the handicap pairs championship played with the first two rounds on Saturday followed by quarter and semi-finals on Sunday. A barbecue lunch will be available for any interested bowlers at a small cost. Please let Alan Affleck know if you want lunch.
PARKES BOWLING & SPORTS CLUB AGM
The AGM will be held on Monday, September 22 commencing at 7pm.
