Parkes town players were successful winning the finals of the open and Presidents district singles played at our club over the weekend.
Dane Bland completed a very successful comeback, winning his second district open singles title producing a dominate display to edge out Shaun Ellery 31-22.
Promising youngster Ben Townsend had a few shaky moments against John Hodge before running out a narrow 31- 28 winner in the Presidents singles.
The wins by Dane and Ben complete a clean sweep of dist open events, as players from our club have already won the fours, triples and pairs.
The only championship not to won by our club was the senior pairs and singles, but we produced the runners up in these events.

Thursday Bowls.
Seven games of pairs played on a beautiful afternoon, and the greens were at their very best.
Match of the afternoon was a narrow 19-17 win to Wally Austin and Tony Byrne over John Hodge and Stan Wright.
Rob Tinker and Colin Hornery were made to work hard for their 23-19 victory against Keith MacRae and Merv Hennock.
Colin Hayward and Mike Valentine came home from behind in a withering finish, winning the last seven ends to defeat Paul Henry and Wally Grant 26-12.
Chris Millwood and Ted Wright proved to be a very hot pairing as they completely out classed Phil Collins and Dave Sheehan 34-9.
John Ward and Tom Cole eased off over the final stages to run out comfortable 26-18 winners against Noel Nicholson and Bill Skinner.
Two bowlers in good form at the moment are Eddie McPhee and Bob Freeman; they combined well to be just too good for Greig Ball and Peter McPhee 28-17.
Ricky Frame and John Dunn were all class in a convincing 21-14 win over John Corcoran and Alan Tolhurst.
Social mufti will be run this week by Bruce Orr and Keith MacRae.

Mid Week Business House Bowls.
Some very close results highlighted Wednesday evening’s program, and the match that stole the show was a thrilling 12all draw between Marries Costumes and West Pack.
A sensational finish saw R.T.A Drivers just edge out Ditch Bitches 12-10; they picked up a four on the last end for victory.
OPSM finished the better and won a tight contest with Super Nova’s 16-13 and Pot Luck hung on for a close 17-14 win against Services No2.
Thursday didn’t provide as many close games but never the less there was still some tough battles.
Village People were able to outlast Squashed Ambitions in close one just getting up 10-7.
Telescope Tyres came home late to tip out Land care 15-12 and in the derby Casey’s No1 def Casey’s No2 21-13.

Saturday Bowls.
Thirty starters for social bowls and the finals of the district singles made up the field last Saturday.
Closest game was a 21-15 win to Garry McPhee and John Edwards over Craig Henry and Dave Johnson.
Also in a tight match John Davies and Ryan McLuckie defeated Geoff Freeman and Wally Grant 23-15.
Showing good form were Josh Mills and Bernie Mitchell as they were just too strong for Bob Risebourgh and John Dunn 28-12.
Colin Hayward and Mike Valentine teamed up again and were again successful when they defeated John Corcoran and Tom Hamilton 26-18.
John Carr and Dave Sheehan had too many guns for Paul Townsend and Bob Freeman running out convincing 28-17 victors.
In a mean mood was Jim Buckley and Merv Hennock as they completely overran Arthur Corbett and Colin Woods 30-12.
The triples were a hard fought affair and Greg Townsend, John Ward and Alan Afflick defeated Greig Ball, Wally Austin and Ellie Hetherington 22-14.
Starters for this week are Mike Parkes and Greig Ball.

Club News.
On the club scene the members badge draw failed to go off and moves along to $1100.
There will be a football tipping contest run over the season, with $1000 prize money for first place.
The contest will start on March 11th and to enter see the bar staff a $20 deposit is required.
Sunday bowls.
Fields continue to be healthy on Sunday mornings and with the jackpot up to $840 its well worth coming along and enjoying the mornings bowls.
There were twenty four starters playing in six games of pairs, the best of these was a dramatic six shot final end finish where Chris Dunn and Brenda Davies picked up a six to just beat Mick Craft and Irene Bonham 15-13.
The next best game was a 16-10 win for Peter tenCate and Ray Jones over C. Kenny and Steve Turner.
