Twilight Bowls Starts Back Up

Welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES.
Quite a few games of both singles and pairs were played over the week, and following are the results, MAJOR PAIRS, John Hodge and Col Mudie had a close win over Peter McPhee and Steve Ryan 19/17, Noel Nicholson and John Ward had a good win over Ron Hornery and Keith MacRae 25/15. MAJOR SINGLES, Joe Crowley beat Gary McPhee 31/23, Mick Went had a close win over Tom Casey 31/24, and finally in the game of the round Col Mudie in a magnificent come back beat Mick Valentine 31/30, Mick at one stage lead 28/23, Col Fought back to be 30/30, then went on to score the winning point, a great game from both Men, MINOR SINGLES, Gary McPhee beat Alen Affleck 31/9, Wally Grant had too many guns for Nimo Mills, getting up 31/13, and in the round of the day in Minor Singles, Bernie Mitchell had a heart stopping win over Steve Turner 31/29, Bernie got off to a screamer, leading 9/0, but then Steve hit his straps and caught up, both then went on to score end for end, when they were level at 29/29, Bernie then held his nerve and scored the two points needed for the game, congratulations to both men on their game.
TUESDAY TWILIGHT BOWLS.
12 Players played from 6PM to the bell at 8PM,, winners John Watson and Tom Furey, runners up Les Kent and Dave Johnson, this is a mixed mufti night, anyone is welcome to come and play, names in by 5.30 for a 6PM start.
SUNDAY JACKPOT BOWLS.
10 Players fronted on a beautiful Sunday Morning for a crack at the Jackpot of $1000, but it did not go off, so still $1000 this Sunday, winners on the morning, Gladrin Sun and Geoff Bloom, runners up Malcolm Watt and Chris Dunn.
THURSDAY TWILIGHT BOWLS.
18 teams fronted for the first night of bowls, there were some new teams and a lot of previous teams, all sorting out their teams, and getting some practice for the start of the Competition Proper next Thursday 29th, anyone who would like to enter a team, IT IS NOT TOO LATE, ring the club on 68621446, or be at the club by 6PM on the night, single entries will also be most welcome, you will be nearly sure to get a game, as some team will be short a player, and looking for a player, this is a mufti mixed night.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday afternoon saw 29 players on the greens, winners on the day were Bob Freeman Rob Irving and John Dunn, runners up Joe Crowley and Gordon Dickson, there were a couple of close games on the day, John Hodge and Ray Jones, just got up over Greig Ball and Graham Barby 23/22, and Alan Wright and Col Hayward had a close shave over Steve Mills and Jeff Matters 21/19.
SATURDAY AFTERNOON 28 bowlers plus 5 markers went to do battle, winners on the day were Tom Furey and Kev Hynds, runners up Col Woods and Arthur Corbett.
GENERAL NEWS.
All the club games are going well, keep up the good work and get your games played as soon as possible, check the board for upcoming events.
