G'Day and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
PENNANTS.
The Ones were home for a double header against the two Dubbo Teams. On Saturday, in windy rainy weather, they saddled up to play Dubbo Railway and in a game they had to win, they did'nt, going down 5/1. "Flip" Fliedners team were the only side to get up.
On Sunday morning they met the Dubbo West side, in much better weather, they again went down 5/1, again "Flips" side were the only side to get up. So now for the last game of the series, they will play Nyngan on Sunday Week 16th June, this will be a game for enjoyment only, as both sides are out of the running. This game will start at 10.30am, note the new time.
The No fives were supposed to travel to Peak Hill but due to the rain, it was postponed to a date to be fixed, most probably Sunday 16th June, please check with the Club.
SUNDAY JACKPOT BOWLS.
No bowls were played on Sunday due to the weather, so the Jackpot of $700 will up for grabs this Sunday, even thou it is the long weekend, Sunday bowls will still be played.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP BOWLS.
One game of Major Triples were played on Saturday, with the team of Wally Austin, Gary McPhee and Kev "Major" Hynds, getting up in a close game over Steve Mills, Bernie Mitchell and Mike Parkes 25/21. Kevs team led all the way in this game, although Mikes Team never let up, winning the last three ends but couldn't make up the gap.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday saw 22 bowlers on the green with the winners being John Dunn and John Ward, runners up Terry Hetherington and Geoff Freeman. Terry just came home after three weeks in Cane Toad Country and had trouble handling the cool weather and slow greens, that's his excuse anyway.
GENERAL NEWS.
Both the Major and Minor Triples are underway. With the long weekend coming up, it would be a good opportunity to get some games over, as there are three days available to play,
BOWLS STARTERS.
Thursday 6th June John Hodge and Bruce Orr, Saturday 8/6 Gary McPhee and Steve Mills, Thursday the 13/6 Mick Craft and Ron Hornery.
On Monday the 10th (long weekend) there will be Mufti Bowls, someone who is playing please organize the games.
Well that's it for this week, see you all at the Bowlie.
