G'Day, and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES.
Major Triples, the team of Wally Grant, Mark Dwyer and Joe Davies were too good for Max Tomkins, Jim Jennings and John Corcoram, winning 26/20. Also the team of Greg Townsend(sub), Mick Went and Robert Corbett were way too good for Ron Murray, Peter McPhee and Ray Jones, winning 34/13.
And in a Minor Triples game Norm Keane, Alan Affleck and Joe Crowley were too good for Tom Cole, Wally Grant and John Dunn 24/12.
PENNANTS.
No games played on the Long Weekend but this Sunday sees both the Ones and Fives play their last games, both sides are out of contention, so the games have no influence on the final placings, the ones are home to Nyngan, this will be a hard game as we are missing four players, so players from the fives will have to step up, and the depleted fives are away to Peak Hill, this game also has no effect on the final placings, but its always good to visit Peak Hill, as they are a great bunch of blokes.
SUNDAY JACKPOT BOWLS.
14 players fronted on Sunday to try for the Jackpot, but it did not go off, so $740 this Sunday.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday afternoon, in the drizzle, 20 players fronted for a game of bowls, the winners on the day being Joe Crowley and Geoff Freeman, runners up Gordon Dickson and John Carr.
Saturday saw 33 players on the greens, the winners being Sheldon Orr and John Ward, runners up being Max Tomkins and Geoff Freeman. There was a bit of a change in the format in these games, as they played two bowl pairs over 25 ends, also one game of two bowl triples, the new format didn't help some bowlers, as there were some BIG wins, however, there was one close game, that being Gordon Dickson and Tony Bright beating Ron Murray and Keith MacRae 27/13.
Monday afternoon saw two games of mufti pairs played, Mike Valentine and Baldy Frame had a close call over Greig Ball and Graham Barby, winning 24/22 and Dave Johnson and John Ward had a good win over John Dunn and Kevin Hynds 28/22.
GENERAL NEWS.
Not much to report here, both the Major and Minor Triples are in full swing. Thanks to everyone for getting in and playing the games while the weather is ok.
Keep an eye on the notice board for future events and dates for games.
Well, that's it for this week, see you all at the Bowlie.
