G'Day, and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday afternoon saw 20 bowlers take on the cold and windy weather for a game of bowls, the winners on the day being Brian Collins and Noel Nicholson, the runners up being Eddie McPhee and Wally Grant.
Saturday saw 35 bowlers on the greens, a mixture of social and Minor Triples games, the winners on the day being Wally Grant Gordon Dickson and John Dunn, runners up Joe Crowley and John Corcoran.
Sunday Jackpot Bowls saw 8 players take to the green in search of the elusive jackpot, which was not won, it now stands at a very impressive $820 this Sunday.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP TRIPLES.
Three games of triples were played on Saturday, all the games were close, with some very good bowls sent down, Tom Hamilton, Greg Fisher and John Hodge had a close win over Greig Ball, Steve Ryan and Tom Casey 27/23, Dave Johnson, Craig Henry and Paul Henry had a good win over Ron Murray, Mike Valentine and Kev Hynds 24/20,( not often you see two Chooks playing in the same team), and finally Norm Keane, Peter McPhee and Gary McPhee had a good win over Greg Ballentyne, B Skinner and Glen Pepper 20/16.And on Sunday afternoon, in cold and windy conditions a game of Major Triples took place, the team of Paul Henry, Garry Went and Brett Frame just fell over the line against Ted Wright, John Hodge and Rob Tinker 21/17, the scores were locked together at 17/17 on the 23rd end, with team Frame winning the last two ends for a good win.
GENERAL NEWS.
This Sunday there will be a game of Mixed Mufty Pairs, names in by 12.30pm, for a 1pm start, single entrys or team entry's welcome. Hopefully the weather will be fine, depending how this event goes, we will try to have it at least twice a month, so roll up for a good afternoon's bowls.
This weekend the Zone playoffs of the Singles, Senior Singles and Pairs and Open pairs will take play at West Dubbo, we will have Baldy Frame in the Open Singles, Col Hayward in the Senior Singles and The Corbett Brothers,( the Amazing Arthur and Young Robert) in the Open Pairs, we wish all the players the very best on the weekend, and hope you all bring home the bacon.
Last Satruday at Coonabarabran, the Zone Triples were played, our team of Mick Went, Baldy Frame and Col Hayward met a crash hot team from Nyngan, and unfortunately went down, bad luck fellas.
This Saturday, the second round of the Major Triples will take place, best of luck to all the teams.
The Nominations for both the Major and Minors Fours are still open, BUT will close on 15thJuly, so you still have two weeks to get your teams in, at the moment the nominations for the the Minor Fours is very slim, so get your teams together.
Dont forget the Christmas in July Party is now open, book at the bar, $25 per head, with Risky Business providing the music for the night, so get your party together and book in to avoid disapointment.
Well, thats it for this week, see you all at the Bowlie.
