The following Central West District events are now open, Open Singles, Presidents Singles and Senior Singles, these events close on 8th Feb, while the Open Pairs, Presidents Reserve Pairs and Senior Pairs close on 25th Jan. Put your nominations in the box and also write your names on the relevant sheets on the board.
The Australia Day Mini Carnival will be held on Monday 28th Jan, this event is sponsored by Peter McVicker and is a mufti event, open to all players. All you need is a team of 4, men, women, or mixed, put your teams in the blue book & remember we are restricted to team numbers, so first in will play.
KEVS BIG SHAVE.
Kev Hynds will be having his beard and head shaved after the bowls on Monday, all proceeds going to Can Assist. So come along for a great spectacle, plus make a donation to a worthy cause. Kev is also donating a framed Autographed Wallaby jumper to be auctioned. So anyone who collects sporting memorabilia, this is an event not to be missed. The auction will be held while Parkes No 1 Hairdresser Stefan Mikita is doing the shave. There should be some amazing before and after photos.
Anyone who would like to donate some items suitable for auction would be most welcome, please see me if you can help out.
TWILIGHT BOWLS.
Last Thursday saw the registration night for this event, some 20 teams turned up for a fun night of bowls and a sausage sizzle. There was a coupe of new teams, plus a heap of young people who turned up to see what Twilight Bowls was all about. Hopefully we can get another team from them.
Remember Twilight bowls starts in ernest tomorrow night.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
10 brave bowlers turned up on Thursday for a game of bowls but as there is no sheet, I don't know what happened.
Saturday saw 44 bowlers on the greens, some results from the day saw Col Woods and Col Mudie beat Warwick Bright and Bruce Orr 19/16, Mike Parkes and Gary McPhee beat Sheldon Orr and Steve Turner 18/15, Merv Hannock, Ron Fisher & Mark Dwyer beat Alan Affleck, Ron Hornery and Greig Ball 19/18.
SUNDAY JACKPOT BOWLS
14 bowlers fronted for the new jackpot of $100, it did not go off, so $140 this Sunday.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP BOWLS.
One game of Major singles last Saturday saw Baldy Frame beat Terry Hetherington 31/15 and 2 games of Major Pairs saw Arthur Corbett and Col Hayward bear Noel Nicholson and John Ward 30/12, then Sunday Afternoon front up for their second game against Tony Byrne and Steve Turner, with Arthur and Col pulling away in the last 5 ends to win 23/14.
Remember, you can play your games at any time, don't wait till the last day. Sundays are usually free of any organized bowls, so are a perfect day to get some of your games out of the way.
Thats it for this week.See you all at the Bowlie.
