Minor Triples Decided

Welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
ZONE NEWS.
We had two players participating in Zone events, Tom Furey was the District winner of the Rookies Singles, and went on to Dubbo for the Zone playoffs, he won his first game, but went down in the second, anyway it was a great effort Tom.
Michael Went was in the playoffs for the Zone Singles Title, he won his Semi-Final Game against a Trangie Player, then went up to play the Pocket Dynamo Jono Davis, Mick gave his all, but went down 31/12, again a great effort.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES.
The finals of both the Handicap Pairs and the minor Triples were play on Saturday, in the Handicap Pairs, Ray Jones and Rob Irving went up against Warrick and Matt Parker, Ray and Rob had a two shop Handicap advantage, but didn't need it as they won in convincing fashion, 27/14. In the Minor Triples Greg Townsend Peter McPhee and Skip Steve Ryan were up against Les Kent ,Gordon Dickson (sub) and Skip Craig Henry, Team Ryan were never headed as they won 36/13, Congratulations to both winning teams.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday saw 20 Bowlers on the greens on a beautiful Spring Day, the winners on the day were Ray Jones and Ron Hornery, the runners up John Taylor and John Ward. a couple of scores from the day saw John Watson and Flip Fleidner in a good win over Billy Skinner and Col Mudie 16/12, Les Kent and Craig Cusack in a close win over Alen Wright and Col Hayward 20/18, and in the game of the day, Ron Hornery and Ray Jones in a mighty draw with Mike Valentine and Steve Ryan 21/21, Ray and Ron won the ends 12/9.
Saturday saw a group of travelling bowlers from Junee join us in a great day of bowls, in total 36 players on the greens, a few scores from the day saw Bob Freeman Wally Grant and Gwenda Carty in a good win over George Bradley Noel Nicholson and Marie Grant 20/17, Paul Henry and Baldy Frame in a good win over Arthur Corbett and Col Hayward 21/17, Baldy was cockahoop after this game as it was his first win in about ten games, looks like he is on the up again, Chris Dunn and A Shaw in a good win over G Millard and Steve Turner 25/20, and C Woods and C Shaw in a good win over K Seton and Ron Hornery 20/15.
SUNDAY JACKPOT BOWLS.
18 players on a beautiful Sunday Morning saw them trying for the $1000 Jackpot, but it did not go off, so it is still there for this Sunday, the lucky winners on the day were Don Littlewood Tom Furey Ian Nunn Keith Hutchinson Bill Skinner and June Burgess.
GENERAL NEWS.
The Club has a new Caterer, Mel from cafe 'n' ate is heading up the kitchen on a Friday Night, she cooks good old fashioned Meals, so come on down and enjoy a good meal and a chance at the Raffles.
Also the Club is Tutoring a group of Senior High School Boys in Bowls, and is looking for the loan of new type bowls for the boys to use, anyone who could lend their bowls for a couple of hours, it would be much appreciated, the bowls will not leave the Club, you could possiblely also stay and help with instructing.
