We were pleased to welcome four bowlers from Orange to our social bowls on Thursday. In the triples game, Clint Gamble, Martin Tighe and Jim Blake defeated Greg Howlett, Bob Freeman and John Watson 25 to 17. Rob Irving and Greg Hough led throughout to score a good win over Ian Webb and John Ward 26 to 15. The remaining pairs match resulted in a sound win for John Dunn and John Corcoran over Les Kent and Ross Smith 26to 16.
Winners – J. Blake, M. Tighe, C. Gamble

Saturday Bowls
Gladrin Sun and Tom Furey put up a top effort only to go down 25 to 14 against a formidable combination of Colin Mudie and Colin Hayward. John Ward and John Davies led John Taylor and Arthur Corbett 25 to 6 after thirteen ends but Arthur and John fought back to lose 29 to20. Mark Dwyer and Graham Barby combined well to defeat Greg Howlett and Greg Townsend 30 to 15 in a game which was much closer than the score indicated. In the triples match Greg Huggins, Ray Jones and John Dunn had a convincing 25 to 10 victory against Bernie Mitchell, Les Kent and Steve Mills.
Winners – M. Dwyer, G. Barby
Runners Up – G. Huggins, R. Jones, J. Dunn
Roster Saturday – John Watson, John Carr
Following Bowls a function was held to thank the volunteers for their support in the operation of the club. As Colin Hayward and Colin Mudie will no longer be responsible for maintaining the greens, the speakers representing the Board, Men’s and Women’s committees spoke in glowing terms of their outstanding contributions. John Hodge was praised for his effort in looking after the surrounds but unfortunately his work will be restricted in the future due to his health. Rhona Went organised finger food which was appreciated by all.
