G'Day, and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
PENNANTS.
The Club had three grades of Pennants in action on the weekend,The Fives made the long journey up the Newell to Dubbo Railway, where they met an inform side and went down 5/1, I believe Keith MacRae, despite being ill, was the only rink to come up trumps.
The Sixes went to Parkes Railway, where they recorded a 5/1 win, good on you Boys.
The Sevens went down the Newell to Forbes, and despite having to win to remain in the running, went down 6/0 to a red hot Forbes side the only rink to put up a show was Team Austin, Wally going down on the last end, well done Wal. Forbes now has an unasaleable lead, and will head off to Dubbo for the Zone playoffs.
The Fives play Peak Hill on Saturday, with Sunday being Mothers Day. There will be no other Pennants played, we will resume on Sunday Week.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS.
Two games of singles played on the weekend, in the Major singles game, Rob Corbett was too good for Dave Johnson, winning 31/11, at the 11th end, the score was 8 all, but then the Turbo kicked in for Rob, and he went on to a comfortable win.
In the Minor singles game Kev Hynds went on to a comfortable win over Laurie Westcott 31/23, on the 12th end Kev picked up a four to draw level, then went on, not headed again, to take the match.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday afternoon saw 26 bowlers on the greens, the winners on the day being Noel Nicholson and Keith MacRae, runners up Wally Austin and Graham Barby.
