CLUB CHAMPIONSIPS
Minor Fours Championship
On Saturday, December1, the team of Greg Howlett, Rob Irving, John Dunn and Ian Simpson started strongly and after fourteen ends lead Greg Townsend, Joe Crowley, Gladrin Sun and Bob Freeman, 17-8. Team Townsend then found form and with three ends to play held the lead 18-17. Team Howlett managed to re-group and won the last three ends to advance to the final, winning 22-18.
Minor Triples Championship
On Sunday, December 2, Steve Turner, Guy Ellery and Wilbur Harris took on Gary McPhee, Martin Tighe and Jim Blake in the Final of this event.
In a see-sawing match there were never more than two shots in it and after fifteen ends the scores were level 15 all. On the next end team Turner scored four shots to lead 19-15. They maintained the lead for the rest of the match to, eventually, run out winners 27-21.
Congratulations to all players for a great match and in particular, Steve, Guy and Wilbur our Minor Triples Champions for 2018.
Mixed Pairs Championship
In what was a “family affair”, the final of this event was played on Thursday, November 29.
Mother and son, Rhona and Mike Went were up against the husband and wife team of John and Brenda Davies. Scores were close in the early stages and half way through the match, Mike and Rhona had a slender two shot lead 9-7. Mike and Rhona won three of the next four ends to open up a seven shot lead 19-12 and went on to win the match 29-22.
Congratulations to all the players and in particular, Rhona and Mike Went, Mixed Pairs Champions for 2018.

Twilight Bowls.
It was good to see a full green with fourteen teams turning out on a great night for bowls.
There were a couple of close games and some not so close.
Rebelle lead 8-0 in the early stages against the Golden Girls but the Golden Girls hit back and levelled the score 8 all. Rebelle again went out to a 14-8 lead but on the next three ends the Golden Girls scored nine shots to lead 17-14. Not to be outdone, Rebelle scored four shots on the last end to win by one shot, 18-17.
In another close one, the High Rollers and the Cousins were level at 8 all before the High Rollers scored one shot on the last end to claim victory.
In other matches:
Loopy Loppers were too strong for Bowl Bros
J&CK had a win against Casey Surveying
Central West Glass defeated Three Amigos
Purple People had a comfortable win against We Wreck ‘em ‘N’ We Fix ‘em
And, 1300 Bugman No. 1 had their second win of the year.
Thanks again to Bob Riseborough and Tom Furey and their helpers for a great night of bowls and some very tasty snacks after the game.
