G'Day, and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday afternoon bowls saw 24 Bowlers on the green, the winners being Mike Valentine and Warren Bevan, runners up were Bruce Orr and Craig Henry,
There were no bowls on either Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning Jackpot Bowls due to the Casey Surveying Pairs Tournament
CASEY SURVEYING TWO BOWL PAIRS.
16 teams contested the two bowl pairs tournament run over two days, each team played eight games of 14 ends over the period, on Saturday, after the first five games, there was one team on five wins, and another on 4-1/2 wins, so on Sunday, for the final three games it was anyones day for the taking, but the two teams held their own, so there was no change in the placings, the winners being Steve Turner and Eddie McPhee with 7 wins plus 44, second place went to Steve Ryan and Bruce Orr 6.1/2 wins plus 20, and third place went to Greig Ball and Col Hayward with 6 wins plus 33,(5 wins plus 2 draws), so the result was a very close encounter, a big thank you to Casey Surveying for sponsoring the event, and Tom says it will be on again next year, (You Beaut).
GENERAL NEWS,
The big news is the No 2 Pennant Team is heading to Tuncurry to contest the State Pennant playoffs this weekend, we wish them the best of luck, I am going with them to barrack them on, hopefully to win our second No 2 Flag.
More news from the Club, on August 11 will see the first round of the Minor Fours, For those in both the Minor and Major Fours, remember you can play them any time, dont wait to see the play by dates on the board.
Last week, the Club was both a sad and happy place, sad as we farewelled Theo Holman, (who lost his battle with the big C), because Theo was a great bloke and mate. And happy because of the number of people who saw him off, and the number of yarns and stories of his life, our condolances to Sue, Chris and Jane.
Well thats it for this week, hopefully next week I will have some great news to tell.
See you all at the Bowlie.
