Charity Day
On Saturday, June 3, the Social Bowls was dedicated to the local cancer support groups, Can Assist and Men’s Prostate Cancer Support.
The weather was kind to us and forty-two bowlers and eight non player supporters turned out for a great day of bowls. The twenty one teams played two bowl Pairs over two games of sixteen ends.
Winners on the day were decided by a lucky draw, of individual bowlers, with twenty four prizes – all donated by locals and local business houses. The volunteers from Can Assist also conducted a raffle with lots of prizes also donated locally.
In all over $1600 was raised on the day thanks to the support of all the sponsors and those people who devoted so much time and effort in to making the day the great success it was.
I don’t intend to try and name all the sponsors and organisers, but should mention Chris Dunn from the Prostate Cancer Support Group for all his work in getting the day organised and Graham Barby from the Bowling Club for organising the bowls on the day.
