G'Day, and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
PENNANTS.
The big weekend is fast approaching, where both the fives and sevens head North to Dubbo for the Zone Playoffs. Both teams are very excited at the prospect of winning their grades and progressing to the State Playoffs. When they win, the fives go to Bomaderry, and the sevens to Port Macquarie. Our top team, the twos are already off to Tuncurray. We wish them all the best for the big event.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday saw 28 bowlers take part on a very pleasant winters day and the lucky winners were, Gordon Dickson and Colin Hayward, runners up being Bruce Deland and Baldy Frame.
Saturday saw 24 bowlers on the greens, a very good turn up considering the races were on. The winners were the two Micks, Went and Valentine, with the runners up being John O'Malley and Tom Cole. One close game saw Alan Affleck and Col Mudie beat Max Tomkins and Corky Corcoran 23/22, drawing the teams from the bucket certenly didnt distort the draw.
SUNDAY JACKPOT BOWLS.
Again only 4 players fronted up for the Sunday Morning game, the jackpot was not won.The Jackpot is now at a very handy $720 this Sunday.
GENERAL NEWS.
Sunday saw 30 Bowlers take part in a practice afternoon for the Fives and Sevens to help them on their way to Dubbo this weekend. We will have a lot of Spectators there for the games, so anyone who can make it to Dubbo, please come and cheer on the teams.
The Major and Minor Triples are in full swing, there were games played on Monday, but no results before this report went to press, everyone is urged to get in and play while the weather is fine, we saw what happened two weeks ago, when everything was washed out.
Both the Major and Minor Fours nominations are now open, get your teams together and put them in the box in the bar, plus money in the envelope and write the team on the sheets on the board, this will give players an idea of who is playing, and who they can ask to play.
Once the pennants are over, we will be looking at putting on Sunday Afternoon Mufti Mixed Social Bowls, the last time we play this event, it proved very popular, we hope to make it an ongoing event.
Well thats it for this week, see you all at the Bowlie.
