Here is the latest news from the Bowlie.
TWILIGHT BOWLS
The popular Thursday night Twilight Bowls recommenced last week with 42 bowlers playing a free practice night.
Some of the matches saw Rok-FM defeat Three Amigos 12-9, Bushies finished strongly to defeat Elle 14-9 and We Wreckem-We Fixem scored a good 19-13 win over Throw Together. Bowl Bros scored six shots on the last two ends in defeating Casey Surveying 17-11.
The winning team was Bushies with Spadgers getting the lucky losers prize.
The new competition will commence tomorrow night, 23rd January. Anyone wishing to nominate a team can do so by contacting the club on 68621446.
SUNDAY MORNING JACKPOT
On Sunday 10 bowlers turned out and played one game of Pairs and one Triples.
Craig Henry and Guy Ellery scored a very convincing 18-10 win over Brian Sefonte and Graham Barby.
Ian Brown, Mick Blunt and Rob Irving defeated Bob Freeman, Tom Furey and Steve Turner 15-11.
Voucher winners were Mick Blunt, Ian Brown, Guy Ellery and Steve Turner.
The jackpot was not won and now stands at $740. Come along on Sunday morning for a game of bowls, a sausage sandwich, and a chance to win the jackpot. Names in by 9:30am for a 10:00am start.

The very hot weather reduced the number of bowlers on both Thursday and Saturday afternoons.14 bowlers battled the heat on Thursday.
Results were: Darren Seaton and Col Mudie played Joe Crowley and John Corcoran. Darren and Col got away to a good start and led 16-5 after 11 ends. Joe and John fought back but the margin was too great. Darren and Col hanging on to win 22-17.
Terry Hetherington and Warren Bevan played Rob Irving and Keith MacRae. Terry and Warren held a narrow lead of 14-11 after 16 ends. They then won the next five ends to run away with the game 27-11.
After trailing early in the match Mike Phillips, Mike Valentine and Gary McPhee finished strongly to defeat Nev Whitfield, Kevin Hynds and John Carr 21-16.
Prize winners were Terry Hetherington and Warren Bevan.
18 bowlers turned out on Saturday playing one game of Triples and three games of Pairs.
The triples game was a low scoring affair with Steve Mills, John Carr and Col Mudie scoring a narrow 17-13 win over Wally Austin, Greg Fisher and Keith MacRae.
Gary McPhee and Graham Fliedner played Matt Parker and Brett Frame. Matt and Brett only lost five ends in recording a big 26-11 win.
Tom Furey and Tom Casey played Greig Ball and Mike Valentine. This was a very close game with the score 18-18 after 18 ends. The two Tom’s then won the last three ends to win the game 25-18.
Bernie Mitchell and Kevin Hynds played Allan Wright and John Ward. Allan and John led 14-4 before Bernie and Kevin fought back to lead 20-17 after 19 ends. Allan and John scored three shots on the last two ends to record a 20 all draw. Allan and John won the ends 12-9.
Major winners were Allan Wright and John Ward and the minor winners were Tom Furey and Tom Casey.
UPCOMING BOWLS EVENTS
Australia Day mini carnival will be held on Monday 27th January with $1000 prize money. This is a mixed mufti event with teams of four. Cost is $15 per player, which includes a BBQ lunch. Nominations close on Friday 24th January.
The draws for both Minor and Major, Singles and Pairs are on display at the club. Please check your draw and try to arrange to play your first round game as soon as possible.
