Sunday Jackpot Nears $1000

G;Day and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
CHAMPIONSHIP TRIPLES.
One game of Major Triples played on the weekend, where the team of Gary McPhee, Dave Buggie and Kev Hynds, got up over Rob Tinker (sub) Col Mudie and Arthur Corbett 28/21.
SUNDAY JACKPOT BOWLS.
A small number fronted for Sunday Morning Bowls, where the jackpot stood at $900 but it was not claimed, so $940 this Sunday.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday saw 22 bowlers on the green, but as there was no sheet filled in, I cannot give and details of the winners, but some results from the day, Bob Freeman and Col Mudie had a close encounter against Rob Irvine and John Ward, winning 24/22, Geoff Freeman and Keith MacRae also had a close win over John Keogh and Graham Barby 19/17, while again in a close run, Norm Keane and Greig Ball got up over Ray Jones and Gordon Dickson 22/19.
Saturday afternoon saw 30 bowlers on the greens, with the winners Mick Parkes and Col Mudie, runners up John Corcoran and John Keogh, a couple of close games here, John Keogh and John Corcoran just got up over Merv Hennock and Geoff Freeman 20/19, while in the game of the day John Dunn, Max Tomkins and Greig Ball had a 22/22 draw against Noel Nicholson, Chris Dunn and Mick Valentine, with Team Ball getting the ends 11/10.
Sunday saw two teams heading West to Condoblin for their Mini Carnival, where the team of Mick Craft, Noel Nicholson, John Ward and Greg Fisher, brought home the money, the other team of Ron Murray, Wally Grant, Terry Heatherington and Keith MacRae had a good day but missed out on the spoils..
GENERAL NEWS.
Coming up on the 20th July, the first round of the Minor Fours, while on the 27th, we have the Semi Finals of the Major Triples.
Nominations for the Men's Bowling Section close on the 24th, so anyone who is thinking of giving something back to bowls, now is the time to put your name up for a position on the Board.
BOWLS STARTERS.
Tomorrow, 18/7 Greig Ball and Graham Barby, Saturday the 20/7 John Hodge and Wally Austin, and next Thursday Vacant.
New rosters are now available, so please check you have a new copy, anyone who would like to help out, please give your name to someone on the Men's Section, the more names, the longer between rostered times.
