Hi everyone.
Thursday Games.
Not a big turnout with only one game of triples and three of pairs making up the field.
Never the less there were a couple of tight contests, the best was on the TV rink, it proved an entertaining encounter with John Ward and Dave Buggie winning six of the last seven ends to just edge out Colin Mudie and Greig Ball 15- 14.
Also coming home with a powerful finish was Mike Parkes and Wally Grant, they were down 17-20 but won the last five ends for a 23-20 result over Keith MacRae and Tom Cole.Col Hayward and Bruce Orr won 22-11 against John Carr and Mike Valentine and in the triples Arthur Corbett, Noel Nicholson and Ron Murray were too good for Eddie McPhee, Alan Afflick and Dave (welcome back) Sheehan 24-14.
Starting social mufti this week will be Mr Wally Austin and Mr Garry McPhee Esq.
Twilight Bowls.
An active night of enthusiastic bowls produced a couple of very tight finishes with the best being a nail biting 13- 11 win to Super Bees over Elle11.Good Question won a cliff hanger 13-12 against Uniting Church, while the unbeaten High Rollers kept their record intact with a hard fought 12-9 win over Railway Goat Poachers.
New team Cobb St Tavern Boys won their second match in impressive fashion.
Saturday Matches.
Club championship matches dominated the program and we had some interesting match ups.In major singles Tom Casey saw off Dean Searle 31-19 after 30 hard fought ends, it was Tom’s ability to convert for multiples that gave him the edge picking up four scores of three or more in an impressive win.
In minor singles action Guy Bennett went out in style picking up a four on the final end to win a tough encounter 31-25 over a game Wally Austin.
Ron Murray was in great form recording a fine 31-8 win over Bob Freeman.
In social bowls Col Hayward, Gwenda Carty and Pat Cooney won 31- 21 against John Davies, Joe Crowley and Tom Cole, while on the next rink in an entertaining encounter Tony Bright and Ray Jones def John Carr and Alan Afflick 29-23.
The final social game saw the hot pairing of Dave Johnson and Mike Valentine get up 22-18 against John O’Malley and Max Tomkins.
Looking after proceedings this Saturday will be Ron Hornery and Geof Freeman.
Sunday Morning Bowls.
A handy field of sixteen took to the greens and played four games of pairs.
Taking best match of the day was an exciting come from behind 17-16 win for Nimo and Keith Hutchison over and Kevin Hynds and Alan Afflick.Mick Blunt and Dave Johnson won a tough battle against Gwenda Carty and Bob Freeman 16-11.
Unfortunately we don’t have the results of the other two games.
I believe the brothers Arthur and Robert Corbett have won the District Pairs championship played at Condobolin over the weekend, well done boys, I don’t have the scores but they defeated a Forbes side in the final winning a cliff hanger on the last end.
The pennant season is approaching fast and selectors will be sitting down to select sides over the coming weeks.
If you intend to play you must put your name in to be considered, there is a sheet on the notice board in the bar or you can fill in a questionnaire sheet and leave any feed back to aid the selectors in picking the teams.
Good Bowling.
