Zone FOURS Rounds.
On The weekend the Railway Club hosted rounds of the Zone Fours and our club was represented by two teams. On Saturday both sides had two wins and advanced to the semi-finals. On Sunday morning the team skipped by Garry Carberry played against the team from Manildra and needed to win the last end and were holding two shots but the Manildra skip, Graham Fliedner, moved the jack with his last bowl and they advanced to the final. Our Other team, Col Hayward, John Davies, Col Mudie and Graham Barby, had a win in the semi-final and went on to meet Manildra in the final on Sunday afternoon..
In the final, Col’s team got away to a flying start, scoring seven shots on the second end and building a good lead but Manildra fought back. Col’s team maintained their lead throughout the game and eventually took out the match by a handful of shots to claim the winners of the home zone games.
Congratulations to all our players on a great weekend of bowls and we wish Col’s team all the best in the Zone Finals at Dubbo Railway Club next weekend.
