Here's the latest from the Bowlie.
TWILIGHT BOWLS
A big field of 60 bowlers enjoyed the magnificent weather last Thursday evening with five very close games highlighting the night.
Bowl Bros scored two shots on the last end to defeat High Rollers 13-11.
Three Amigos also scored two shots on the last end to defeat one of last year’s winning teams, Orange Thunder, by two shots, 13-11.
After leading 10-4 Casey Surveying held on to defeat We Wreck ‘M ‘N’ We Fix ‘M 10-8.
Two & A Half Fitters scored two shots on the last end to tie 11 all with Battlers. Two & A Half Fitters won the ends 6-5.
When the bell sounded Central West Glass led Loopy Loppers 2 by two shots. The CWG side decided to play an extra end back to where all the bags were. Loopy Loppers scored four shots on the end to come out victors 12-10.
Other winning teams were Bushies, Make Up, Elle, Purple People and Loopy Loppers 1.
Major prize winners on the night were Loopy Loppers 2.
SOCIAL BOWLS
Thursday saw 16 bowlers play four games of pairs.
With the score 7 all after 10 ends Col Woods and John Corcoran outplayed Rodd Kenny (Liverpool) and Geoff Freeman over the second half of the game to record a 20-14 win.
John Watson and John Dunn scored ten shots in winning the last four ends in their 26-15 win over Bob Freeman and John Ward.
Joe Crowley and Graham Barby dominated the last seven ends to run out 27-11 winners over John Taylor and John Hodge.
After leading 24-15 Mike Valentine and Col Mudie held on to record a 24-21 win over Rob Irving and Ron Hornery.
Prize winners were Joe Crowley and Graham Barby.
Saturday saw 12 bowlers play three games of pairs.
After establishing a handy 13-2 lead Ray Jones and John Carr went on to defeat Noel Nicholson and Ron Hornery 20-11.
Joe Crowley and John Ward led all the way in their 24-17 win over George Bradley and Liz Byrne.
Rob Irving and Nimo Mills played Bob Freeman and Gary McPhee. Rob and Nimo won the first six ends to lead 14-0 then Bob and Gary won the next four ends to level the score at 14 all. Rob and Nimo had the better of the second half of the game to run out 32-20 winners.
Prize winners were Ray Jones and John Carr.
All Thursday, Saturday and Sunday social bowls will now be mufti. Full club uniform is required for all club championship matches and representative duties.
SPONSORED SUNDAY EVENT
Mark your calendar for the Rhona Went and Liz Byrne sponsored social bowls day on Sunday, November 22. The format for the day will be announced shortly.
MIXED FOURS
One quarter final match was played last week. Merilyn Rogers, Bernie Mitchell, Elaine Miller and Dave Johnson took on Cherie Frame, Rob Irving, Gwenda Carty and Col Hayward. This started off as a very close match with the score 10 all after nine ends. Col Hayward’s team then won the next six ends to hold a very handy 26-10 lead. Dave Johnson’s team fought back to win the next four ends to trail by seven shots 26-19. Col’s team won the last two ends to run out 31-19 winners.
MIXED PAIRS
One mixed pairs match was played with Liz Byrne and Col Mudie up against Eileen and George Bradley. Liz and Col had to be at their best to get on top of Eileen and George. Liz and Col ran out 26-10 winners. Eileen and George must be congratulated on their performance as they are both newcomers to the game of bowls and were playing in their very first club championship match.
SUNDAY MORNING JACKPOT
12 bowlers played three games of pairs.
Martin Tighe and Maureen Baillie only lost four ends in their 22-6 win over Keith Hutchison and Steve Ryan.
Mal Porter and Chris Dunn won the last three ends to edge away from Eileen Bradley and Tom Furey. Final score was 12-8.
George Bradley and George Boatswain had a good 24-7 win over Bob Freeman and Ted Wright.
Prize winners were George Boatswain, Keith Hutchison, Steve Ryan and Ted Wright.
The jackpot was won by the lucky rink of Keith Hutchison, Steve Ryan, Martin Tighe and Maureen Baillie. Come along next Sunday for a game of bowls, a sausage sandwich and a chance to win the jackpot. Names in by 9:30 for a 10:00am start.
HANDICAP SINGLES
The draw for the Handicap Singles has been done and is displayed on the verandah notice board. All players are asked to arrange their games as soon as possible with rounds one and two to be completed by Sunday, November 15.
2016 PENNANTS
Bowls NSW have made some administrative changes for the 2016 pennant season. All bowling clubs have to register all pennant participants by December and only bowlers who have been registered can compete in pennants. If you would like to play pennants or be a reserve please indicate by putting your name on the sheet displayed on the verandah notice board by Monday, November 30.

FRIDAY NIGHT
Mel and her staff are providing good old fashioned pub style meals at very reasonable prices. Raffles are also on where patrons have the chance to win meat trays, shopping vouchers and cash prizes. So come along and join in the fun. Members badge draw this Friday is $2700.
