Here is the latest from the Bowlie.
Tuesday 26th
Fine weather at 4 o,clock in the afternoon greeted the pair of Greg Huggins and Tom Furey as they met George Bradley and Steve Nimo Mills to battle it out in the first round of the Handicap Pairs. These two pairs history goes back to last year where they met in the final. This year after a frantic tussle where there was nothing in the game until the 19th end, last years result was reversed with Greg Huggins and Tom Furey running out winners 30-26.
Thursday 18th
On a beautiful mild cloudless day 28 players participated with one game of Handicap pairs and 6 games of social bowls played. In the game of Handicap pairs Gary McPhee and Jim Blake got off to a slow start against George Boatswain and Ray Jones trailing 6 shots to 1 in the 5th end. After that, in a dominant performance it was all team Mcphee/Blake prevailing with for a 26-18 win.
In social bowls Chris Dunn and John Ward 17 had a close win over Col Woods and Peter Page, who was visiting from Coolum Bowling Club in Queensland.
Keith Macrae and John Dunn 24 had a good win against Arthur Corbett and Joe Crowley 16.
Guy Ellery who is probably playing the best and most consistent bowls of his career partnered one of our best leads Rob Irving 25 to dominate against John Carr and Col Hayward 15.
In the closest match of the day that was finally determined on ends won, Bernie Mitchell and Col Mudie 15 had an absolute cliffhanger drew against Bruce Deland and Geoff Freeman 15 who defeated the former pair by 12 ends to 9.
Gordon Dickson and George Bradley 25 showed some good form to defeat Mal Porter and Greg Huggins 14.
And in the final match of the day in another close match Graeme Barby and Graham Dixon were narrowly defeated by Ron Hornery and Wally Grant 17-16
Thursday Twilight Bowls.
The winning rink on the night was Bowl Bros who had a tight game 11-10 against we wreck'm

In other matches J@CK defeated the team of Golden Girls 13-11; Purple People defeated the Rebels 13-5; and in the final match of the night Hi Rollers had a good win over Central West Glass.
Saturday afternoon Competition and social games results were as follows;
In the Championship Minor Pairs final the formidable combination of Rob Irving and Guy Ellery were up against Wilbur Harris and Steve Turner. This was a game that started reasonably even until the 12th end when Rob and Guy scored a 7 to progress to a 17-9 lead. From then on it was all over for Wilbur and Steve with a convincing 26-15 win to Rob and Guy. Congratulations to both these guys as both have been playing very consistent bowls lately.
In social bowls
Rob Tinker and Baldy Frame 22 were too good for consistent lead Ray Jones and skip Greg Howlett 14.
Our Coolum visitor Peter Page once again fronted for a match to partner Greg Huggins for a 17-15 win against Joe Crowley and Col Mudie.
