PBSC defeat Railway Under Lights

Here is the latest news from the Bowlie.
TWILIGHT BOWLS
A big field of 60 bowlers competed on Thursday night.
The match between the two current competition leaders saw Rok-FM storm home, winning three of the last four ends and scoring ten shots to two, to defeat Back Trundle Rd 15-13. Other results saw Cracker Jacks hang on to defeat Throw Together 13-12, Battlers also hung on to defeat Three Amigos 12-11, High Rollers defeated Super Bees 17-12 and Bushies scored a big 30-8 win over a depleted Bowl Bros team.
The major prize winning team was Spadgers with Elle winning the minor prize. Bowl Bros won the lucky losers prize.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Five matches were played over the last week.
In a Major Singles match Terry Hetherington had a hard fought 31-22 win over Tom Furey.
Four Major Pairs matches were played.
Despite only winning eight ends, Garry and Michael Went scored a comfortable 25-17 win over Wally Austin and Kevin Hynds. Good to see Garry back on the green.
After a close game for the first 15 ends, Graham Barby and John Davies scored a five shot end to grab a seven shot lead and then held that advantage for the rest of the game, going on to defeat Tom Casey and John Corcoran 20-14.
Col Mudie and John O’Malley, aided by a seven shot end, were too strong for Wilbur Harris and Mark Dwyer. Final score was 23-12.
Arthur Corbett and Col Hayward scored a good 27-15 win over Greig Ball and Gary McPhee.
SUNDAY MORNING JACKPOT
No bowls were played on Sunday morning due to the beautiful rain.
Come along on Sunday morning for a game of bowls, a sausage sandwich, and a chance to win the jackpot. Names in by 9:30am for a 10:00am start.
SOCIAL
On Thursday 24 bowlers played six games of Pairs.
John Hodge and Col Hayward had a narrow 23-19 win over Graham Barby and Col Mudie.
In a high scoring game Gordon Dickson and Gary McPhee defeated Alan Affleck and Greg Townsend 31-25.
Ray Jones and John Keogh scored twelve shots on the last six ends to defeat Bernie Mitchell and John Corcoran 22-11.
Bob Freeman and Mike Valentine had a good 20-15 win over Bill Skinner and John Ward.
Noel Nicholson and Arthur Corbett completely dominated their match against Allan Wright and Brett Frame, running out winners 25-10.
Rob Irving and Warren Bevan won seven of the last eight ends to record a 27-13 win over Bruce Deland and Greig Ball.
Major winners were John Hodge and Col Hayward and the minor winners were Gordon Dickson and Gary McPhee.
On Saturday 18 bowlers played three games of Pairs and one Triples.
In the Triples game Keith MacRae, John Dunn and Peter McPhee recorded a big 26-11 win over Tom Furey, Mick Craft and Tony Bright.
In a low scoring game, Gordon Dickson and John Ward scored a narrow 16-14 win over Wes Westcott and Ray Jones.
Col Woods and Mike Valentine scored eight shots on the last three ends to defeat John Laws and Wally Austin 21-18.
Rhona Went and Liz Byrne had a 26-17 win over Bill Skinner and Robyn Morgan.
Major winners were Keith MacRae, John Dunn and Peter McPhee and the minor winners were Gordon Dickson and John Ward.
The club is introducing a new jackpot bowls competition. It will be held on Tuesday evenings with names in by 5:30pm for a 6:00pm start. It will be played over a maximum 15 ends with play to cease by 8:30pm. The jackpot will commence at $200 and will increase each week until won. The first night will be 4th March 2014.
BRAGGERS CUP
This is a challenge between the Parkes Railway Diggers Club and the Parkes Bowling and Sports Club. It has been arranged by the BRAGGERS of each club. The first round of first to 25, Singles matches were played at Parkes Bowling and Sports Club on Friday night. Results were:
Tony Piesley recorded the only Railway Diggers win when he completely dominated his match against Graham Fliedner. Tony won 25-10.
Brett Frame only lost three ends in recording a big 26-3 win over Mick Furney.
Arthur Corbett led all the way in his 25-13 win over Alan Cameron.
In the closest match of the night, Col Hayward came back from a 6-14 score line to defeat Luke Ramsay 25-21.
Parkes Bowling and Sports Club holds a 3-1 lead going into the return matches at Railway Diggers on Friday night.
The event is still wide open with the Railway Diggers boys expected to call on their home ground advantage, and their supporters, to bridge the gap and possibly win the event. This event highlights the friendly rivalry which exists between these players.
