TWILIGHT BOWLS
The first round of the popular twilight bowls competition was held last Thursday with 54 bowlers in attendance.
There were some very close games and some not so close games.
Bowl Bros scored four shots on the last end to defeat Two & A Half Fitters 13-9.
Parkes Central Butchery scored three shots on the last end to grab a 14-13 win Central West Glass.
In a low scoring game Rok-FM won the last three ends to record an 8-7 win over Battlers.
Other winners on the night were Back Trundle Road 1, Back Trundle Road 2, Uniting Church, We Wreck ‘M N We Fix ‘M, High Rollers and Casey Surveying.
New teams or individuals are welcome to join in and only need to contact the club to be included in next weeks games.
SOCIAL BOWLS
On Thursday 24 bowlers enjoyed the great spring weather playing six games of pairs.
In a game which was only decided on the very last bowl, Ray Jones and Ron Hornery defeated Tom Furey and John Hodge 21-20. Holding two shots, Ron’s last bowl promoted another of his team’s bowls into the head to score three shots and claim the one shot win.
Trailing 8-3 after 10 ends Graham Barby and Warren Bevan hit top gear and completely dominated the second half of the game to defeat Noel Nicholson and Geoff Freeman 23-10.
John Taylor and Col Mudie were too strong for John Watson and Arthur Corbett. John and Col led 25-4 after 15 ends before John and Arthur won the last six ends to reduce the margin to 25-15.
Rob Irving and Col Hayward scored 10 shots in winning four of the last five ends to record a 24-14 win over Mike Valentine and John Corcoran.
John Dunn and Guy Ellery combined well to defeat Gordon Dickson and Steve Ryan 24-13.
Col Woods and John Ward came from a 7-18 deficit, winning the last seven ends to snatch an 18 all draw with Wally Austin and Dave Buggie. Col and John won the ends 11-10.
Major prize winners were Graham Barby and Warren Bevan with the minor winners being John Taylor and Col Mudie.
With a large number of players participating in out of town carnivals only 10 bowlers played on Saturday.
The triples game saw Gwenda Carty, Rob Irving and Geoff Freeman score 15 shots in winning the last seven ends to record a come from behind 21-16 win over Col Woods, Liz Byrne and Gary McPhee.
In a high quality game Ray Jones and Dave Johnson had a 20-17 win over Greg Howlett and Ron Hornery. Six shots to Ray and Dave on end 19 enabled them to grab and lead and hold on for their win.
Prize winners were Liz Byrne, Dave Johnson and Geoff Freeman.
SUPER SATURDAY
This Saturday, October 24 will be a Super Saturday with extra prize money on offer thanks to the generous sponsorship of Ray Jones. It is a mixed mufti event open to both current bowlers and new bowlers. This is a great opportunity for anyone wishing to try their hand at lawn bowls. Anyone wishing to play need only contact the club on 68621446 before 1pm Saturday. Play will commence at 1:30pm. Come along and enjoy a fun afternoon.
SUNDAY MORNING JACKPOT
8 bowlers played two games of pairs.
George Bradley and John Taylor had a good start and led Ian Nunn and Mal Porter 11-2 before Ian and Mal fought back to level the score at 12 all. George and John scored one shot on the last end to claim a 13-12 win.
In a high scoring game George Boatswain and Ted Wright, aided by a seven shot end, ran out 23-16 winners over Gladrin Sun and Maureen Baillie.
Prize winners were George Boatswain, Mal Porter and Ted Wright.
The jackpot was not won and remains at $1000. Come along for a game of bowls, a sausage sandwich and a chance to win the jackpot. Names in by 9:30 for a 10:00am start.
DISTRICT CARNIVALS
Parkes Bowling & Sports Club teams had success at both Eugowra and Condobolin last weekend.
The team of Max Tomkins, Mike Valentine and John Corcoran were the winners of the Eugowra carnival while the team of Graham Barby, John Davies and Col Hayward finished third in the Condobolin carnival.
2016 PENNANTS
Bowls NSW have made some administrative changes for the 2016 pennant season. All bowling clubs have to register all pennant participants by early December and only bowlers who have been registered can compete in pennants. If you would like to play pennants or be a reserve please indicate by putting your name on the sheet displayed on the verandah notice board by Monday, November 30.
MENS BOWLING SECTION MEETING
The next meeting of the men’s bowling section will be held on Sunday, October 25 commencing at 5pm following a social bowls afternoon. A committee will be formed at this meeting from the members who have nominated for the various positions.

FRIDAY NIGHT
Mel and her staff are providing good old fashioned pub style meals at very reasonable prices. Raffles are also on where patrons have the chance to win meat trays, shopping vouchers and cash prizes. So come along and join in the fun. Members badge draw this Friday is $2500.
