In the closest match of the day, John Ward and George Bradley won eleven of the twenty-one ends played but went down to Greg Howlett and Dean Searl. On the last end, John and George needed three shots to draw the match and were holding four shots for a win until Greg managed to disturb the head leaving John and George with only two shots giving Greg abd Dean the win 16-15
In another fairly close game, Keith MacRae and Bob Freeman won thirteen of the twenty-one ends but Arthur Corbett and Col Woods scored five shots on the last two ends and won the match 21-18.
Graham Barby and John Dunn had a good win, defeating Rob Irving and Joe Crowley 22-18 and in the other match Col Hayward and John Watson were too good for Geoff Freeman and Jim Blake, 21-15.
