Tiff Dwarf To Get 1st Renovation

Here's the latest from the Bowlie.
TWILIGHT BOWLS
50 bowlers enjoyed the last round of the pre-Christmas competition.
Loopy Loppers 2 won three of the last four ends to record a come from behind 17-15 win over Bowlbros.
Tom and Mel scored one shot on the last end to have a 9 all draw with Glen and Bertie.
Rok-FM scored nine shots in winning the last four ends to defeat Central West Marine 14-11.
Central West Glass had a good 15-10 win over We Wreck ‘M N’ We Fix ‘M.
Other winning teams were Purple People, Bushies, High Rollers, Elle and Two & A Half Fitters.
Major prize winners on the night were Elle with the lucky losers prize going to Casey Surveying.
The lucky winners of the Mensland sponsored shirts were the Rok-FM team.
Following the bowls all present enjoyed rissole sandwiches followed by chocolates for sweets.
Next Thursday, December 17 will be a free night for all interested bowlers.
The post-Christmas competition will commence mid January.
SOCIAL BOWLS
16 bowlers played four games of Pairs on Thursday afternoon.
Gordon Dickson and John Corcoran played John Hodge and Col Mudie in a game which started out very close. After 13 ends Gordon and John held a narrow 13-11 lead. They then dominated the next five ends to extend their lead to 23-12 before going on to win 25-16. Gordon was back to his best form, playing some great bowls to earn the man of the match award.
John Dunn and Col Hayward proved too strong for Rob Irving and John Ward. John and Col’s score of 32 featured two five shot and one six shot winning ends. The final score was 32-10.
Mike Valentine and Geoff Freeman had a good start and led Bob Freeman and Warren Bevan 19-3 after 11 ends. Bob and Warren fought back and reduced the final margin to 24-14.
John Keogh and Lee Hetherington had a good 29-12 win over Ray Jones and Keith MacRae.
Prize winners were John Dunn and Col Hayward.
Saturday saw 22 social bowlers play four games of Pairs and one Triples.
Les Kent and Pat Cooney both played excellent bowls in their 35-6 win over John Watson and John Hodge.
New bowling member, Jim Blake teamed with John Corcoran to play Wally Grant and Col Hayward. Wally and Col proved a bit strong and won the game 29-10. Jim and John won nine ends in scoring their 10 shots. Jim was playing his first ever game of bowls and showed that he will develop into a handy bowler. Welcome Jim.
The left handed pairing of Bill Skinner and Geoff Freeman proved too strong for Joe Crowley and John O’Malley. Bill handled the very quick green excellently and was clearly the player of the game. Final score was a 28-11 win to Bill and Geoff.
Rob Irving and Dave Johnson played Chris Dunn and Steve Ryan in a very close contest. Rob and Dave held a 14-11 lead after 16 ends before Chris and Steve won the next three ends to grab a 16-14 lead with two ends to play. Rob and Dave scored six shots in winning the last two ends to claim a 20-16 win.
After trailing 6-18, Bob Freeman, John Dunn and Tom Furey fought back to level the score at 21 all after the penultimate end against Ron Fisher, Ray Jones and John Ward. The last end saw Bob, John and Tom score three shots to complete a great fight back and claim a 24-21 win.
Major prize winners were Wally Grant and Col Hayward with the minor prize winners being Bill Skinner and Geoff Freeman.
The change of time for Sunday bowls was a success with 14 bowlers turning up to play in the late afternoon.
Eileen Bradley and John Davies won the last three ends in their 13-7 win over Brenda Davies and Col Hayward.
In a high scoring game Tom Furey and Craig Henry outlasted John Dunn and Dave Johnson to record a 23-18 win.
After leading 17-7 Mick Horan, Rob Irving and George Bradley held on to defeat Phil Betts, Guy Ellery and Mick Blunt 17-14.
Prize winners were Col Hayward and Mick Horan.
Everyone is welcome to come along next Sunday afternoon for a game of bowls following by the usual sausage sandwich. Names in by 5:30pm for a 6pm start.
CHRISTMAS PARTY
A Christmas party bowls afternoon is being held on Saturday, December 19. The afternoon is open to all bowlers. Women, men, children, social and Business House bowlers are all welcome. Lots of prizes are on offer. Dress is mufti with names in by 1pm for a 1:30pm start.
WORKING BEE
A working bee is being held on Sunday, December 20, to renovate the Tiff Dwarf No. 2 green. A big roll up will make light work of the job. Start time is 7:30am.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
New arrangements are in place for the 2016 club championships. Details for the major singles, pairs and fours are displayed on the notice board. Nominations for the major fours close on Saturday, January 2. Nominations for both the major singles and major pairs close on Saturday, January 9. It is suggested members put their nominations in before Christmas as a lot of members are usually away over the Christmas/New Year period.
AUSTRALIA DAY MINI CARNIVAL
Make a note in your diary for this annual event which is being held on Tuesday, January 26. The event is sponsored by Littlewood Smash Repairs and Parkes Auto Wreckers and features $1000 prize money. The cost is $20 per player which includes a BBQ lunch. Nominations of teams of four are now being taken. Your team can be all men, all women or mixed and the dress is mufti.

GENERAL
The club’s Christmas Hamper raffle valued at over $800 will be drawn on Friday, December 18. Tickets are available from the friendly bar staff at a cost of $2 each or purchase 3 tickets for $5.
This Friday come along and enjoy a good old fashioned pub style meal. Raffles will also be on where patrons have the chance to win meat trays, shopping vouchers and cash prizes. So come along and join in the fun. Members badge draw this week is $1000.
The club is planning a euchre competition in the New Year. Details will be advised after the Elvis weekend.
