Zone Senior Singles & Pairs To Parkes

G'Day, and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
ZONE SENIOR BOWLS.
This has been a terrific week for our club. On Saturday, Graham Barby and Col Hayward won the Zone Senior Pairs and on Sunday Col Hayward fronted up and won the Zone Senior Singles, this is a great result and congratulations to both players, we are proud of you.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP BOWLS.
One game of Major Triples and two games of Minor Triples were played over the weekend, in the Major Triples game, Craig Cusack, Mick Went and Robert Corbett were far too good for Wally Grant, Mark Dwyer and Joe Davies, winning 35/18.
In the Minor Triples games, Peter McPhee, Gary McPhee and Steve Ryan were too good for Tony Byrne(sub) Steve Mills and Bernie Mitchell, winning 29/14 and in the other game,this being a much closer score, Alan Affleck, Joe Crowley and Norm Keane had a hard fought win over Ron Murray, George Boatswain and Terry Hetherington 25/22.
The final of the Minor Triples is set down for tomorrow, With Team Crowley playing Team McPhee for the title.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday saw 24 bowlers on the greens, with the winners being Norm Keane and Keith MacRae, Runners up Noel Nicholson and Gary McPhee.
Saturday saw a great 48 bowlers on the greens on a fine and sunny afternoon, the winners were Craig Cusack, Mick Went and Robert Corbett, runners up Tom Cole, Mick Valentine and Ted Wright, a couple of scores from the day, Chris Dunn and Bruce Orr had a close win over Greg Townsend and Kevin Hynds 24/20, Gordon Dickson and Wally Austin also had a close win over Wes Westcott and John Dunn 20/17 and Tom Cole, Mick Valentine and Ted Wright had a close win over Bob Freeman, Steve Turner and Keith MacRae 19/17.
SUNDAY JACKPOT BOWLS.
16 Bowlers fronted to try for the jackpot but it again eluded them, so this Sunday is is a great big $820. I am sure the numbers will increase, as it goes higher.
GENERAL NEWS.
Nominations for both the Minor and Major Fours close this Sunday 30th, so if you have not got a entry in, please get cracking, the list is on the board.
The A.G.M. for the Mens Bowling Club is set down for Monday Night 5th August at 7pm, all positions are now open for election, so if you feel you can offer something to the club, please nominate for a position. This is the first time the Mens Club will be holding their A.G.M. as a separate event to the Main Club, so we hope for a big turnout to make it a success.
This Sunday we are are going to Peak Hill for an afternoons game of social bowls, it is a mixed Mufti day and every one is welcome to come along and knowing the Peak Hill Club we will be made most welcome. Please put your name on the list on the board in the Bar.
The Club will be holding its Christmas in July, on the 6th of July, Christie and Michael Green (Fire and Ice) will be entertaining us and our new caterers "Windmills" will be supplying the meal. This is usually booked out, so get your tables together and book in early.Cost is only$25/head.
BOWLS STARTERS.
Tomorrow, Thursday the 27/6 Bruce Orr and Graham Barby, Saturday the 29/6, Terry Hetherington and Mick Craft, and next Thursday 4/7 John Hodge and John Ward.
