One Major Singles and two Minor Pairs games played over the weekend,In the Major Singles, Arthur Corbett had a comfortable win over Kevin Hynes, 31/13, and in the Minor Pairs games,Mick Craft and Guy Bennett (sub) beat Craig Henry and Wilbur Harris 20/18, and Steve Mills and Mike Parkes had a good win over Laurie Westcott and Glenn Pepper 28/13.
PENNANTS.
The Sevens had the Bye this week, and head off to the Railway on Sunday for a tough match, Railway is leading the Comp but had a loss last week, while the Sevens had a great win over Condobolin, at Condo, so this game will really test the metal of the team,
The Sixes, after their big loss at Forbes last week, were at home to the Railway, this was a cracker of a game, watched by a large crowd, and it went down to the last bowl, with two rinks finished, and the third rink on its last end, with a rink a piece, and the master board even, the pressure was on, despite Kev Hynds, at his first go as Skip, and one shot down, playing a bomb, he hit the shot bowl, but didn't move it enough to take the shot, so we went down 5/1, but the Sixes are now right in the frame for some big wins, this week they are off to Condobolin, all the best boys.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday afternoon saw 16 bowlers take to the green, and the winners on the day being John Ward and Greig Ball, one close game on the day, saw Norm Keane and John Hodge , get up over Alan Affleck and Ted Wright, 20/19, going into the last end, Norm and John were 6 shots ahead, but must have had their hearts in their mouths, when Alan and Ted scored a five, to just go down.
Saturday saw 36 bowlers on the greens,, the winner on the day was Arthur Corbett, and his marker Col Hayward, runners up Alan Affleck and John Carr, the afternoon saw the rare occurance of two draws on the day,Tony Byrne and Ted Wright had a draw against Ron Fisher and Dave Buggie,18/18, but Ron and Dave won the ends 11/10, while in the other game Alan Affleck and John Carr had a 20/20 draw against Steve Mills and John Corcoran, with Alan and John winning the ends 12/9.
