No.2 Pennant Team Win Zone
Published by The Driving Lead in Bowls Notes • 4/23/2012 3:41:52 PM
Welcome to this week's news from the Bowlie, and what a weekend it has been, our four Pennant teams all came home with wins, but the biggest and best news of all is the mighty 2's, who have won the zone flag, and now go on to the playoffs for a State Flag. The 2's were leading their grade but had to travel up the Newell to Narromine, and they were missing three of their players, Narromine still had a slight chance of overtaking Parkes, as they had a game in hand, but the boys came home with a wet sail, with a mighty 51/2 to 1/2 win, which leaves Narromine and Dubbo City to play a dead rubber.Well done boys, Tuncurray here we come.
The 5's had a double header at Peak Hill, in the morning game we had a comfortable 6/0 win, went in to lunch, came back for the second game, and the wheels fell off, Warren Bevan's team had a last end win, but the others went down, so we lost 5/1.This Sunday we are having a home double header again against Peak Hill, we are leading the section at the moment, so this week's games will tell the tale, we are very confident we can go on to win the District, and go to Dubbo for the playoffs.
The 6's and 7's played the Railway teams, and both came home with comfortable wins, the sixes 5/1, and the sevens 6/0, both teams are still in the running to win their grades, and progress to Dubbo for the playoffs.
For the players interest, the following cities are the venue for the State Flag playoffs.
2's Tuncurray
5's Bomaderry
6's Wagga Wagga
7's Port Macquarie
So come on down to the club on home game days and cheer on the teams.
SOCIAL BOWLS.

Saturday saw 34 bowlers on the greens with the winners being Glenn Pepper and John Dunn,( welcome back John, glad to see you up and about again, hope you have a complete recovery) and the runners up being John Corcoran with Kev Hynds as marker.
SUNDAY MORNING. With the jackpot going off last Sunday, we started off this week at $500. 10 players fronted the starter, with the winners being John Dunn, Keith Hutchings and George Boatswain, the jackpot did'nt go off, so $540 this Sunday.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS.There was one game of Major singles and three of Minor Singles played on the weekend, in the Major game John Corcoran took on Graham Barby, and in the end came home with a comfortable win, 31/21. And in the Minors , John O'Malley had a big win over Bernie Mitchell 31/12, and in a turn around result, Gary McPhee beat Wilbur Harris 31/21, you might recall last week Wilbur beat Gary in their Major Singles game, another day another result., and in the big upset result of the day, Peter McPhee took on Tom Casey, and playing constent bowls came home with a 31/24 win, this was Peters second game back after being laid up after major surgery, so he obviously spent time plotting Toms defeat, well done to all players.
GENERAL NEWS, both the Major and Minor Triples are now open, the events close 6th May, with the first round to be played by 26th May, so please get in and play the games as soon as possible, while the weather is good, if you cannot play, get a sub.
Well thats it for this week, good bowling to you all, see you at the Bowlie.
