G.Day, and welcome to this weeks news from the Bowlie.
TWILIGHT BOWLS.
No bowls last Thursday due to the rain, but all players are advised, that with Easter fast approaching, this weeks bowls will be held TONIGHT, Wednesday, this is the last night of Twilight Bowls this Competition, it will be a Free night, and also prize presentation, all players are asked to come and make it a great last night, also if your team would like to play against another team, please let Graham know, and if possible he will organize it.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES.
Three games played on the weekend, in a Major Pairs game, the team of Wally Austin and Mike Parkes were too good for Sheldon Orr and Tony Bright, winning 25/15, in a Major singles game Brett Frame was too good for John Carr, winning 31/16, in a Minor Singles match Greg Ballantyne just got over Steve Mills 31/28, this game went for 40 ends, it was that close.
SOCIAL BOWLS.
Thursday afternoon saw only 12 players on a very windy and showery day, the winners being Mike Valentine and Keith MacRae.
Saturday afternoon saw the Parkes Cellars sponsored day being played, a total of 58 players took to the greens on a sunny afternoon for a great afternoon of fun bowls, and thanks to Chris and Ben McNaughton and their staff, everyone ended up with a prize, and they have indicated that they will again sponsor the event next year. many thanks to you all at Dalton St.
SUNDAY JACKPOT BOWLS.
14 players fronted on a beautiful Sunday morning, to try for the Jackpot, it was not won, so $340 next week,
PENNANTS.
Sunday afternoon saw the mighty Sevens at home to Forbes, in a game we needed to win to stay in the hunt for the District Flag, but unfortunately we met a fired up Forbes team and went down 6/0, this is a serious blow to our hopes to go on, however, there will be no Pennants this Sunday, as it is Easter, but the following week to head west to Condobolin, this will be a hard round, as Condo is leading the Group, but we will came back with a vengeance, so watch out Condo.
GENERAL NEWS.
All the Players in the footy tipping competition are reminded that Friday is Good Friday and the Club will be closed, so all tips must be in on Thursday night, and also the Thursday night game will still NOT be counted.
The long awaited moment has arrived, the new Tifdwarf green will be officially opened on Saturday the 6th of April @ 6pm, after the usual afternoon bowls, everyone will be invited to get their bowls and have a rollup, also a free BBQ will be available, this event is open to everyone men, women and big kids, all we need is good weather.
There is still time to enter your team for the Easter Saturday Mixed Mini Carnival, The Tooheys sponsored event with prize money of $1000, is for teams of four, men, ladies, or mixed, starting at 10am, so put your team in the blue book, only 14 teams can be accepted, so don't miss out .
